As the country enters a new chapter in its history, widely acknowledged as the outgoing administration’s centerpiece program is its Build, Build, Build (BBB) initiative, which was envisioned to usher in the “Golden Age of Infrastructure” in the Philippines. To date, BBB infrastructure projects have opened new expressways and road networks that reduce travel time around the regions. Long, massive bridges now connect islands, cities, and provinces in the archipelago.
One recently completed infrastructure development is the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), which connects mainland Cebu to Cordova town in Mactan Island. Soon to be part of Cebu’s iconic landmarks, the CCLEX is an 8.9-kilometer toll bridge expressway that can serve at least 50,000 vehicles on a daily basis. The CCLEX is expected to decongest traffic in the two other existing bridges, immensely benefitting business and commerce in Cebu and throughout the Visayas Region.
