Bob Marley’s legacy lives on in “Bob Marley: One Love”

Bob Marley has always felt the power of his music and its capacity to unite people, and Bob Marley: One Love’s aims to capture the immense scope of the icon, and a side of Bob Marley that few have ever seen. “Bob carried the weight of the world on his shoulders to bring one love and joy to others. He bore that pain for us. He carried abandonment. He carried agony. He carried guilt. But he did not carry hate,” says director Reinaldo Marcus Green after immersing himself in the world of the musician.

How Kingsley Ben-Adir transforms into an icon in “Bob Marley: One Love”

When it came to picking who would embody the role of his father Bob Marley for the movie Bob Marley: One Love, Ziggy Marley only had this to say about Kingsley Ben-Adir. “He was the best, simple,” Ziggy says. “But it was also about, ‘Who can hold this?’ Because it’s a very heavy burden. When I met Kingsley, I knew this was a man who could. He had the right spirit, energy, ability, respect and commitment.”

“Somebody’s got to raise their hand and say, ‘I’m willing to take a chance.’” Director Reinaldo Marcus Green is bringing something legendary to the big-screen with “Bob Marley: One Love”

Director Reinaldo Marcus Green knew that helming a film about the legendary Bob Marley was going to be a monumental task, but if the musician’s life taught him anything, it’s not to be afraid. “Somebody’s got to raise their hand and say, ‘I’m willing to take a chance.’ I think that for anything that’s great in life, you have to be willing to take that shot,” he says. That fearlessness has translated into a film that not only brings the story of one of the greatest musicians of all time to life, but tells it in a way that resonated even with Bob’s own family.
