"The Greatest Showman" Songwriters Create New Song for "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile"

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, songwriters of La La Land and The Greatest Showman, create new songs to help a singing crocodile express himself, in Columbia Pictures’ Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.  

Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, starring Academy Award® winner Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, and Shawn Mendes, is a live-action/CGI musical comedy that brings this beloved character to a new, global audience.

Pasek and Paul are among the most successful songwriters of their generation. They were immediately captured by the magic of the project and the fact that they felt it was perfect material for a musical.

Music Superstar Shawn Mendes Lends Voice to "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile"

Shawn Mendes, superstar recording artist and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, brings Lyle, the singing crocodile to vocal life, in Columbia Pictures’ new musical comedy Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (in Philippine cinemas October 12).

Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a live-action / CGI musical comedy that brings this beloved character to a new, global audience.

Mendes describes Lyle as a character driven by love. “He just wants to have a family, a home, and feel connected to people,” says Mendes, “and love is the reason I sing, too – I sing when I feel comfortable, when I feel accepted. I relate to him a lot.”

The Dallas Zoo Re-Names One of Its Nile Crocodiles Lyle in Celebration of "Lyle, Lyle Crocodile"

In celebration of the release of Columbia Pictures’ motion picture “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile” based on the beloved book series by Bernard Waber and starring Academy Award winner Javier Bardem, Constance Wu and Shawn Mendes, the Dallas Zoo re-named one of its Nile crocodiles Lyle for the day.

The ceremony took place today in the Dallas Zoo where a sign was displayed for the day, marking the illustrious occasion. Dallas Zoo’s Lyle is a male Nile crocodile that weighs a whopping 1,000+ pounds.

Along with the announcement, Columbia Pictures released an exclusive clip of the film in which Hector P. Valenti (played by Javier Bardem) meets Baby Lyle for the first time. Lyle is voiced by musical artist Shawn Mendes.
