Dayaw Brings Back Bearers Of Culture For Seventh Season On ANC

Deputy Speaker and Antique congresswoman Loren Legarda urges Filipinos to learn and honor indigenous cultures 

Filipino heritage is alive and well through the efforts of our "bearers of culture," individuals who have made it their mission to teach indigenous dance, song or chant, and skills for the future generations to inherit. 

On the seventh season of "Dayaw" on the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) starting on September 19, Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda once again shares the stories of these unsung heroes, who silently yet passionately protect our national identity by preserving our and traditions.

With more than 70 music showcases spanning bar performances, concerts, railways jams, multimedia guestings, busking sessions, songwriting workshops, theatrical specials, and out-of-town gigs, this year’s edition of Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) is proud to present what may possibly be its biggest and most diverse festival lineup yet.

Presented by Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) and National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the annual music festival aims to promote the awareness and appreciation of all forms of Filipino music through a variety of on-ground and online platforms starting July 20 onwards, happening in different music venues nationwide from Metro Manila to Davao City.

NCAA upholds its legacy at Season ‘94 opening

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) will continue the tradition of bringing decades of pride to the Philippines, at the opening of the NCAA Season ‘94 happening on July 7 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, which will be seen outside the Philippines via The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) different platforms in most countries worldwide. 

NCAA has produced world-class athletes in the likes of Carlos Loyzaga, product of San Beda University, who has been part of the Olympics twice as a player of the Philippines’ men’s national basketball team. There was also Lauro Mumar, a product of San Juan de Letran University, who also represented the country internationally by being part of the national team that participated in the 1954 FIBA World Championship where the Philippines took home a bronze medal.
