Celebrated Broadway Actress Lea Salonga to Join The Tabernacle Choir on Tour of “Hope” to the Philippines

Acclaimed Broadway singer and actress Lea Salonga will be the featured guest artist on the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square’s tour to the Philippines. This is the

second stop on the Choir’s world tour of “Hope” and the first visit by the Choir to the Philippines.

Lea Salonga is a multiple award-winning actor and singer renowned across the world for her powerful voice and perfect pitch. She is acclaimed for her Tony Award–winning role in Miss Saigon. In addition to the Tony, she has won the Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Theatre World Awards in the field of musical theatre.

Many fans of all ages recognize Lea as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine from Aladdin and Fa Mulan for Mulan and Mulan II. Lea served as a judge on the Philippines hit version of “The Voice,” including the ratings juggernaut “The Voice Kids.” An avid techie and gamer, Lea divides her time between Manila, Philippines, with her family and the United States.

From the successful run last year of the Light The World Giving Machines organized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are brought back in Manila and Cebu to reach out to more generous people who want to share and change the lives of many this holiday season.

Being a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the season is known to be the time to share the blessings that we have received throughout the year. Last year, they have set up these machines located in Festival Mall Alabang and Ayala Center Cebu attended by celebrities like Eric and Rona Tai, Shamcey Supsup-Lee, Xia Vigor, and Jarius Aquino.

‘Light the World Giving Machines’ Is Back To Bring Joy This Christmas

The Christmas season can be made more meaningful by being more giving in every way we can. Despite the challenges that we faced in recent years, there has been better development with our lives, and we can now go out more and slowly everything is getting back to normal. And for this upcoming holiday, the vending machines for charity or ‘Light the World Giving Machines’ is back in the Philippines to invite the public to participate in this one-of-a-kind fund raising that will benefit various beneficiaries.

This project is a global initiative of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which also had this project in several countries that also links people in cities to the communities they support. A very fitting gesture to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ which is what Christmas is all about.
