Akbayan Partylist today called for the urgent passage of the "Kian Bill" to protect innocent civilians, particularly youth and minors, from the brutal impacts of state-sanctioned violence.

Named after Kian Delos Santos—the young boy whose life was taken by police forces in Caloocan during former President Rodrigo Duterte’s violent anti-drug campaign—House Bill No. 11004 aims to prevent further victimization of innocent people and pivot the government’s approach to a public health framework and bring to justice both the drug lords who have largely evaded accountability and the enforcers responsible for extrajudicial killings (EJKs) in the infamous Tokhang operations.

Mark Rivera Releases His First-Ever Single Titled "Wag Siya"

Mark Rivera is primarily known as an actor. Apart from appearing in the movie Without You (2023), he was also part of several TV series such as Be My Lady (2016), Mga Batang POZ (2019), and Unbreak My Heart (2023). And now this actor is ready to explore another field in entertainment: music.

Managed by ALV Talent Circuit and recently welcomed to the Media Quest Artists Agency, Mark just released his first-ever single entitled “Wag Siya” under Universal Records. The song has a catchy melody, especially its hook — “Wag sya, ako na lang, wag sya, sinta” — which perfectly sums up what the song is about: wanting someone who wants someone else.

The song is now available in all streaming platforms and it will also have a visualizer that can be seen on the Universal Records YouTube channel. It will be a little sexy — something that Mark is not a stranger to since he has modeled underwear for Bench Body.

When asked if he would cooperate with the ICC’s investigation, Duterte dismissed the need for delay, urging the ICC to begin the probe “as soon as tomorrow.” He even quipped that the Quad Committee should fund his trip to the ICC.

In response, CendaƱa affirmed that they are willing to call Duterte's bluff and ensure he faces the ICC.

Kim Ji Soo Nominated at The Ima Wa Ima Asian International Film Festival

South Korean actor Kim Ji Soo has been nominated at the Ima Wa Ima Asian International Film Festival and Entertainment Special Awards 2024 for the Outstanding International Actor in a Cross-Cultural Series award for his remarkable performance in the hit GMA show Abot Kamay Na Pangarap.

Kim Ji Soo, who made his acting debut on stage in 2009 and starred in several K-Dramas, surprised everyone when he made a special appearance on the GMA primetime show Black Rider in June 2024.  After that, it didn’t take long before he became part of another show on GMA, the afternoon medical drama Abot Kamay Na Pangarap.

Playing a doctor and the love interest of the character of lead star Jillian Ward, Ji Soo was able to showcase his acting talent in the show through a variety of scenes, from dramatic to romantic, and even action. He may have joined the long-running show just last August 2024 but his lovable character and onscreen chemistry with Jillian proved to be a hit with the show’s fans. In fact, he made it all the way to the show’s finale, his character ending up with the protagonist.

Akbayan to Duterte: Your antics won’t work in Congress

Akbayan Partylist Representative Perci CendaƱa brushed aside as empty threats former president Rodrigo Duterte’s intention to intimidate the House Quad Committee members as the body announced that it would continue its hearing on Wednesday. The legislator, who has recently joined the House Committee on Human Rights and by extension the QuadComm, said Duterte’s usual antics would no longer work with the House of Representatives.

“Kung sinubukan niyang lusubin ang Senado, hindi niya ‘yan magagawa sa Kongreso. We’ll make sure to utilize the committee hearing to ferret out the truth,” according to CerdaƱa.

“We hope to use his arrogance against him. Sa sobrang lasing niya sa kayabangan sa Senate hearing, hinukay niya ang sarili niyang libingan. His unrestrained display of bravado dug his own political grave,” CendaƱa said.
