REEL DEAL: Risen REVIEW

Lent is already here for the year, and beyond the anticipation for fantasy and heroic films, it is also the year for a whole new movie with a biblical adaptation. Columbia Pictures comes up with the movie RISEN starring Joseph Finnes and Tom Felton.

Risen takes its gospel inspiration starting from calvary and the death of Jesus. Tribune (Finnes) is a Roman official who was assigned and oversee execution and burial orders from Pontius Pilate. However the simple task became complicated with the "disappearance"  of body of Yeshua. Now it becomes a political crisis for the Romans and religious dilemma to the Pharisees.

Though the story of Tribune is not canon, the film takes inspiration from all the four gospels, historical accuracy, and woven into a new perspective of the story of Christ as it focus on his promised resurrection and ascension. Though there are several creative inputs for the film, they made sure it is still within the scriptural interpretation.

Eye protection for gamers

Gamers spend an average of 5 hours a day in front of a computer, and with the long hours spent online—building armies and forts or destroying opponents in the battlefield –gamers are most prone to a common eye disorder called digital strain.

Digital strain is a condition caused by prolonged exposure to harmful blue light emitted from the excessive use of digital devices such as computers, laptops, tablets and smart phones. It is characterized by symptoms such as constant headaches, eye fatigue, redness and blurred vision. If left untreated, digital strain may lead to more serious eye disorders like retinal damage, which can contribute to age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
