Luke Evans Swaggers as Gaston in "Beauty and the Beast"

Welsh actor Luke Evans (The Girl on the Train, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) smashes his way to playing Gaston, the shallow and arrogant villager intent on marrying Belle (Emma Watson) in Disney's live-action fantasy adventure, Beauty and the Beast.

A former War hero, Gaston holds court in the village tavern and has every eligible woman in town wrapped around his finger. Smitten with Belle, who is strong-willed and impervious to his charms, Gaston becomes consumed by rejection and jealousy and leads a mob of villagers to the Beast’s castle to rescue Belle and kill the Beast.

Brie Larson Channels Her Inner Action Hero in "Kong: Skull Island"

Oscar Best Actress-winner for 2015’s Room, Brie Larson now stars as Vietnam War photojournalist Mason Weaver in Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures' Kong: Skull Island, an epic action-adventure that reimagines the origins of one the most powerful monster myths of all.

A compelling, original tale from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the film tells the story of a diverse team of scientists, soldiers and adventurers uniting to explore a mythical, uncharted island in the Pacific, as dangerous as it is beautiful. Cut off from everything they know, the team ventures into the domain of the mighty Kong, igniting the ultimate battle between man and nature. As their mission of discovery becomes one of survival, they must fight to escape a primal Eden in which humanity does not belong.

REEL DEAL: Pwera Usog REVIEW

This year could be the new era  Pinoy Horror films as new faces and technologies have come to bring to life stories of fear and mysticism. Regal Entertainment introduces their summer scare film with PWERA USOG which is written and directed by John Paul Laxamana (Love is Blind, Mercury is Mine). This latest Regal film features a leading cast composed of fresh faces like Sofia Andres, Joseph Marco, Kiko Estrada and Devon Seron.

As the title suggests, it deals with the supernatural belief of "Usog" which still lingers in modern times yet still prominent in provinces. Integrating it to the lives of the millenial generation is quite a challenge along with other elements which will make the story entertaining yet pleasing to movie goers.

Pwera Usog takes the "superstition" to a new twist with some details of the origin also revealed to help the viewers not familiar with the curse. I have to say that the young cast played their roles well, particularly Joseph for his comedic timing, and Devon for the emotions she shown as Luna. They actually played well with veteran actresses like Aiko Melendez and Eula Valdez who played key characters.

Dan Stevens is a Prince Transformed by a Curse in "Beauty and the Beast"

Attaining global stardom and acclaim for his performance as the dashing Matthew Crawley in the Golden Globe®-winning drama Downton Abbey, Dan Stevens now stars in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, opposite Emma Watson’s Belle.

The British thespian plays the Beast, a spoiled and arrogant Prince transformed by the curse of an enchantress.
