Cuddle Weather - The "Marupokpok" Movie Of The Year

With PPP just around the corner, the lin up for this year is exciting with a spectrum of stories and approach with storytelling and direction. And one of the favorites is the sexy romantic film Cuddle Weather. This is one of the first three movies announced for the festival which stars Sue Ramirez and RK Bagatsing.

This debut movie of Rod Marmol is also lucky to be part of the nationwide movie festival working with great actors like Sue and RK. Known for being a writer and a spoken word artist, this is expected to bring in hugots and engaging lines. Sue for the second time joins PPP after last year's Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa Wifi. While RK is gaining popularity with his morning soap opera Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit.

Cuddle Weather is the story of two prostitutes Adela and Ram where Adela is the expert of the trade while Ram is a new kid in the flesh industry. Spearing us from the usual flashbacks about their past, which will be unveiled eventually throughout its course. Adela and Ram makes good money but also struggles with their own weaknesses, love.

Finding You - Is It Hard To Forget About Love?

Would you remember all the things that had happened to you in the past? As in all details and time  which everything happened? Seems like an extreme case of photographic memory but is a condition also known as Hyperthymesia or piking. There has been a few recorded cases all over the world, so instead for forgetting something, they knew vivid specifics of memory of the past.

That is what FINDING YOU wants to explore with this movie that also comes with the quest in finding his true love. Jerome Ponce plays Nel who is a senior writer who tries to know who was that special woman that was a void among his perfect memory.

Helping him with his quest is his best friend Kit played by Jane Oineza as he traces back on his former lovers and find that missing piece that has been bugging him to know if that is the one meant for him. It sounds like a medical drama yet it is laced with romance, life realities, and also scenic shots of the countryside.

“One Great Love” reveals if “the one” is determined by destiny of dependability.

TFC at the Movies brings a movie that asks if destiny provides the viewer with their one great love or is that significant other somebody that one gets to choose for oneself.

One Great Love is about love, which remains to be one of the greatest mysteries up to this day. Falling in love with someone is one thing but staying in love with that person is another story.

The story revolves around Zyra Paez (Kim Chiu), a woman who has broken-up so many times with her boyfriend, Carl Mauricio (J.C. De Vera), and yet fate has them meeting each other repeatedly, under serendipitous circumstances, one might call it fate.

And then, there is Dr. Ian Arcano (Dennis Trillo), a doctor whom Zyra has just met, but proves to be a very dependable friend, ready with a shoulder to cry on and a good listening ear to absorb all of Zyra’s woes.

Elise - Unexpectedly Beautiful In Many Ways

It has been a while since we saw a good Pinoy film recently, this is probably we got used to the same formulaic money-making plots which though it brings in the audience, it is bad for film creativity. But I've stumble upon the latest film by Regal Entertainment which sparked my interest when my friends said it was really a good movie.

Elise is part of the first wave of movies the Regal group has launched this 2019. Knowing it has a love story plot made me think that it will be just like the other love stories with a shallow story, but it was surprisingly good and probably what we need for the film industry right now.

Though the plot was simple, Bert gets to be reunited with his first love Elise yet he also went through a lot of things in life with his family, friends and even strangers he just met, the execution was really good that I never had to re-imagine the scene to make it better.  It was a mix of first love feels, effective comedy (with Victor Anastacio), and drama that is like a knife that slowly pierces into the chest as the movie progresses.

Arjo Atayde Explores New New Genres With Love and Comedy

From his big break with FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as Joaquin, Arjo Atayde’s roles were usually linked to action and drama. He is the antagonist in Erik Matti’s “Buybust,” and now channels a mentally challenged man in “The General’s Daughter. But he also reinvented himself this year with new projects totally different from antagonistic characters.

Dennis, Kim, and JC Fight For Their "One Great Love"

ONE GREAT LOVE is quite a powerful phrase that could mean the ultimate partner for the lonely heart. This Christmas, this is the one of the major films competing in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival 2018.

Starring Kim Chiu, Dennis Trillo, and JC De Vera, the film is directed by Eric Quizon and is the sole entry of Regal Entertainment for the MMFF 2018.

The team up between Dennis, JC, and Kim is a first yet it shows potential from the reactions of fans from the released trailers. Kim shares her joy working with Dennis who is a leading Kapuso star. Though Kim and JC are from the Kapamilya Network, this is also their first time to be play as lovers.

Sanya And Derrick Goes Sexy And Sensual With "Wild And Free"

From doing cute and romantic roles, Sanya Lopez and Derrick Monasterio levels up their acting prowess with an explosive film by Regal Films called "Wild And Free." From the title itself, it already implied that the film will be daring and surprizing for fans and even movie goers. It was also shocking to see the first stills and trailer, it broke the usual image of the two but also know that with their looks and physique, they can confidently show their potential for roles like this.

Wild And Free comes as a game changer this year especially for Regal Films which has a majority of movie more inclined to comedy and love stories. Though this one also counts as a love story, their direction goes to a more mature path. Sanya is most known to play Danaya in the 2016's Encantandia, and now more active in more GMA shows like Haplos, Pepito Manaloto, and Inday Will Always Love You which Derrick is also part of. Derrick is also in the roster of GMA's hunk stars.

The Hopeful Romantic - Introducing PepeRitz With Hilarious Comedy

It may be time for a new line of stars to be introduced to new films as we might have grown used to the usual love teams and themes. They recently made a strong statement with the the launch of a new team up of Pepe Herrera and Ritz Azul. With both gained fans and followers on FPJ's Ang Probnsiyano, people were wanting to see them beyond the series, and this is a perfect opportunity for the both of them.

Though even before Probinsyano, Pepe Herrera was already known for his role in Rak of Aegis as Tolits for his comedy and singing skills. Ritz has been through many series with TV5, GMA, and currently with ABS-CBN where she is known to do sexy comedy. With comedy being the common denominator, this looks like a great pairing for a romantic comedy which brought them to this film by Topel Lee, The Hopeful Romantic.

The Hopeful Romantic is a story of valet attendant Jess (Herrera) who still awaits his "true love"  where he could give his all to her. Then came Veronica (Azul) who loves to be around rich guys in order to get what she wants. With an unexpected reward, he was able to live the life of luxury for a few days and encounters Veronica along the way, but Jess went to pretend to be a big shot just to convince her to fall for him. The fun comes with expensive shopping spree, lengths to show wealth, and the complicated reasons which involves friends and family.

Jameson Blake has come a long way since his stint as a housemate in Pinoy Big Brother: 737 in 2015.

Barely three years in showbiz and he has achieved feats that would have taken other celebs longer to do the same.

REEL DEAL: Pwera Usog REVIEW

This year could be the new era  Pinoy Horror films as new faces and technologies have come to bring to life stories of fear and mysticism. Regal Entertainment introduces their summer scare film with PWERA USOG which is written and directed by John Paul Laxamana (Love is Blind, Mercury is Mine). This latest Regal film features a leading cast composed of fresh faces like Sofia Andres, Joseph Marco, Kiko Estrada and Devon Seron.

As the title suggests, it deals with the supernatural belief of "Usog" which still lingers in modern times yet still prominent in provinces. Integrating it to the lives of the millenial generation is quite a challenge along with other elements which will make the story entertaining yet pleasing to movie goers.

Pwera Usog takes the "superstition" to a new twist with some details of the origin also revealed to help the viewers not familiar with the curse. I have to say that the young cast played their roles well, particularly Joseph for his comedic timing, and Devon for the emotions she shown as Luna. They actually played well with veteran actresses like Aiko Melendez and Eula Valdez who played key characters.
