Hypersonic Signal Beams for Christian Bables

Christian Bables has cemented a place of his own in the acting world, following a win at the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, for his portrayal of Intoy in Signal Rock. Christian has proven to all and sundry that he is an actor to reckon with. He has also erased the notion that he was stuck to playing gay roles.

While he played the “bagtik” (astig in Tagalog), Intoy who decides to remain in a remote island with his family and courageously climbs steep rock formations just to get a cellphone signal in Signal Rock, Christian in reality is also a “bagtik” actor - camera ready, focused and steadfast.

His most recent triumph, a Special Jury Award for Outstanding Acting in Signal Rock (while the movie won the Critics’ Choice Award at the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino), is an amplified signal that all the forces of the universe are aligned in his favor.

The Day After Valentine's - JC-Bella Magic Once Again?

From the success of last year's PPP entry "100 Tula Para Kay Stella", comes another JC Santos and Bella Padilla movie team up directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, The Day After Valentine's is an encore movie that hopes to be another blockbuster hit from the two.

Though with a new set of characters and story, many are rooting for the chemistry of JC and Bella which has a charm with their unconventional love stories. This one starts with the common serendipity meet up which eventually leads to friendship. Kai (JC) is still emotionally attached to his last relationship which also drives him to hurt himself. Lani (Bella) discovers his secret and offers to help him on the road to healing.

Though they do make a good pair, the story comes a little flat with not enough factors to build up the character connection. Despite many people does not like the damatic angst characters of Lani and Kai.

For the upcoming Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) which will run from August 15-21 in cinemas all over the country. And one of them is a Romantic Comedy by Juna Lana, "Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa Wifi". Though it maybe a bizarre title,  the trailer showed potential with the chemistry of Jameson Blake and Sue Ramirez which is also paired with Markus Paterson (who initially was Jerome Ponce).

Now officially part of PPP, this film was made in collaboration with Cignal Entertainment, and this would be their first movie venture and positive with the first project that they made. Of course there is also The IdeaFirst Company (Jun Lana & Perci Intalan), and Octobertrain Films.

Sue Ramirez plays Norma, a average student who has a relationship with varisty player Leo (Markus Paterson) who is also the brother of Aris (Jameson Blake) who is also in love with Norma. If that is not already complicated, Norma acquires a strange disease which make her sick whenever she is within rage of wifi. Christian Bables in a Collaborative Movie with Direk Chito RoƱo: Signal Rock

Christian Bables is excited in his upcoming movie, Signal Rock, his first collaboration with Direk Chito RoƱo. It was a dream come true for him to be working with the A-list director.

He is all praises of Direk Chito. “Ipapakita at ipaparamdam talaga niya sa iyo kung gaano ka niya pinapahalagahan bilang isang aktor at kaibigan basta ipakita mong you deserve his admiration and trust. I will forever be grateful to him. I worked so hard noong makapasa ako sa audition. I put myself into my character’s shoes so I would know kung anong emosyon ang aking paghuhugutan. I imagined my character - the way he speaks, walks, how he closes his eyes – para mabigyan ko ng magandang interpretation ang role ko. I have to be on my toes kasi andyan sina Direk Chito and the staff."

Mananangal Flies Again For Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino

Remember this cool film from QCinema? I was hooked with its interesting story and execution, and I think this might be the best Mananagal movie ever! Yes it's true! Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B is back this year and now for a larger market in the upcoming Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino

I fell in love with the film as it was not just the formulaic love story, but rather shows the human side of Mananangals. It also got hotter when sexy scenes take over followed by a bloody carnage which are the factors why it got an R-16 rating. Despite this, the directors and producers are positive that a bigger screening opportunity and the rise of a new popular character of Ryza which is Georgia in the GMA Afternoon Prime show "Ang Ika-6 Na Utos".
