MMFF 2024 REVIEW: My Future You - Past or Future, It's Time for Kilig

For the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival, it would not be complete without an entry from Regal Entertainment, which is a key institution with Pinoy entertainment. This year was also a sad year for them with the passing of their Matriarch, Mother Lily Monteverde. Though her legacy continues with their entry for this year, MY FUTURE YOU.

This was one of the last project Mother Lily greenlit before she passed, giving tremendous faith and opportunity to the two lead stars Seth Fedelin and Francine Diaz. This dramatic comedy brings two strangers Lex (Seth) and Karen (Francine) meeting online during a comet event. As the two become closer, they soon realized that they live in two different periods. This opens up opportunities for them to change their past and futures which brings them to affect their lives in good and bad ways.

When the teaser and trailer was introduced months ago, many have pointed out the similarities with the Japanese anime film Kimi No Nawa (Your Name) given that it also has the two-time period romantic plot plus the shooting star (or Comet) is seen as the key visual for their marketing materials. However, after watching, I did see the differences yet found it has more similarities with the anime Steins; Gate because of the time period interventions leading to changes in the future.

Seo In Guk and Francine Diaz Unveil Magical Song Collaboration "My Love"

In a serendipitous encounter during Seo In Guk's record-breaking fan meet in Manila last year, a unique collaboration was born. The K-drama sensation and multi-talented artist, Seo In Guk, expressed his desire to work with emerging Filipino talent Francine Diaz.

The catalyst for this collaboration was a casual dinner meeting between In Guk and Francine's manager, John Ling.

During the dinner, the multitalented South Korean actor was captivated by Francine's rendition of “Pag-Ibig,” which resonated deeply with him. Despite any initial doubts Francine may have had about her singing prowess in comparison to In Guk's 'magical' voice, the seasoned singer sensed a dynamic synergy between them.

It’s a grand collaboration that nobody saw coming. Seo In Guk shared his enthusiasm for it, saying, "The song's content is about love, so I worked on it, thinking, 'Wouldn't it be fun to make it like a conversation that talks about love and goes back and forth about love?' and that process was just so much fun… I'm very thankful that I got to do that with Francine," as reported by Metro.Style.

Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin star in the music video of Ace Banzuelo’s streaming hit “Muli”

The Gen Z superstars portray a romantic couple struggling to put their love back together

ABS-CBN stars Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin reunite onscreen for the music video of Ace Banzuelo’s chart-topping electronic ballad “Muli.”

The visual narrative captures the disintegration of what used to be a promising relationship, with ‘FranSeth’ struggling to process their pain.

Going the abstract route, the MV depicts an imagery of a home on the verge of breaking apart: burning couches, dying lights, and a smashed piano. Ace Banzuelo himself, makes a significant appearance as the ‘inner emotions’ of Seth.
