Samsung supports Earth Hour through its "Turn Off Your Light" Campaign

On March 25, Samsung invites everyone to switch off their lights for one hour and demonstrate their commitment to fighting climate change to support World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Earth Hour. This year marks the 11th anniversary of the WWF campaign and is set to happen this Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 in the evening.

Samsung expresses their support in this advocacy with the “Turn Off Your Light” campaign launched last March 21. The campaign was organized to precede Earth Hour as Samsung elected to kick off its campaign on a weekday evening – reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions – and encouraging its employees to raise the issue of climate change and electricity inequality at home with their families.

Samsung Philippines along with over 51 global sales branches participated in this campaign. It began at a sales branch in New Zealand, which was followed by branches in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Central and South America, and North America respectively. The amount of electric charge saved at these branches were delivered, along with social welfare donations, to the residents of Tiom, a rural village in Indonesia’s Papua province, that are suffering from electricity shortages.

The largest colonization mission takes off in Ridley Scott’s latest sci-fi horror-thriller “Alien: Covenant” starring Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, James Franco, Billy Crudup, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo,  Callie Hernandez and Danny McBride.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in “Alien” with “Alien: Covenant”, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with “Prometheus” and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

William Moseley, widely known to be the older son (Peter) in the highly-successful “Chronicles of Narnia” is all grown-up in his latest romantic comedy movie “Carrie Pilby.”

Burdened with an overactive moral compass and self-consciously aware of her uncommon intellect, in a city full of people she considers oversexed, deceitful hypocrites, Carrie finds herself isolated, friendless, dateless and unemployed.

REEL DEAL: Beauty and The Beast REVIEW

Tale as old as Time... is probably the most iconic statement from a Disney Animated film Beauty and the Beast which I really enjoyed when I was young. Now after decades after it was launched, they went with a live-action movie which has been long anticipated by fans.

Years before, it has been revealed that Emma Watson will play the role of Belle and everyone was excited including myself. Then news about the project was also been awaited by fans. As it draws near its release in 2017, they are looking forward to the box office success of the film because of the raves.

As it is largely based on the 1991 animated version, which also got a nomination for the Academy Awards for best picture - a first for an animated film, Beauty and the Beast retained its playlist of unforgettable songs plus some new ones which are also good. There are some changes made to earn its identity apart from the animation. As revealed by the director, there was indeed the "gay moment" but it was so minimal yet trivial to notice. But what I liked most is the scenes that answered my questions that I have with the cartoon version. Take note, it could also be linked to another Disney movie.
