Ai Ai de las Alas won the Best Actress Award in the recently concluded Cinemalaya 2018.

She bested other Best Actress nominees, that include Celeste Legaspi, Iza Calzado, Glaiza de Castro and Perla Bautista.

Ai Ai won for her sterling portrayal of a partially blind wheel-chair bound woman who runs a syndicate victimizing children and then use these children as pawn for illegal activities in the movie School Service. Her director in the movie Louie Ignacio accepted the award in her behalf. 

Ai Ai was having dinner with husband Gerald Sibayan when eldest son Sancho broke the news to her. She cried on learning that she won Best Actress. 

Gal Gadot to Voice New Character Shank in "Ralph Breaks the Internet"

Gal Gadot (“Justice League,” “Wonder Woman”) revealed today that she is voicing the character Shank, a tough and talented driver in an intense and gritty online racing game called Slaughter Race, in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” which hits Philippine theaters this Nov. 21, 2018.  

Live-Action Big Screen Adaptation of "Dora the Explorer" Starts Production

Paramount Players announced today that the motion picture adaptation of Nickelodeon’s Peabody Award-winning children’s animated series, Dora the Explorer, began principal photography on location in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, on Monday, August 6, 2018.

The production, being directed by 11-time Emmy and four-time BAFTA nominee James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, “Flight of the Conchords”) marks the lovable Latina character’s big screen debut (and first live-action adaptation on any platform) after fourteen seasons (2000-2014) and 172 episodes on Viacom’s enduring children’s cable network. The film is a Paramount Players and Nickelodeon production in association with Walden Media. The film is being supported by the Queensland Government via Screenland Queensland. Paramount will release the film on August 2, 2019.

Fuqua Re-Teams with Washington for "The Equalizer 2"

Director Antoine Fuqua returns to re-team with Denzel Washington for a fourth time in The Equalizer 2, following their successful collaborations on Training Day, The Magnificent Seven, and the first Equalizer film.  

“I think people enjoy the idea, the myth, that a guy like Robert McCall exists.  McCall is a kind of dark angel – the angel we all wish would come down and serve justice to people who deserve it,” says Fuqua.

Leading experts within the field of urban sustainability around the world have proclaimed Pasig City as the Philippine National Capital of the 2017-2017 edition of World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF) One Planet City Challenge (OPCC), a biennial global challenge that recognizes cities for developing infrastructure, housing, transport and mobility solutions to power the global transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient future. This edition saw 133 cities representing 23 countries accepting the Challenge. 

Christian Bables’ Signal Rock Opens in Theaters, August 15

Christian Bables topbills Signal Rock which opens in theaters starting August 15. Signal Rock is part of the week-long celebration of Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino. The movie is directed by Chito Roño.

Signal Rock which was shot in the scenic island of Biri in Samar, revolves around the story of Intoy (Christian), a poor high school dropout who lives in a remote fishing island. Intoy’s good communication skills has landed him jobs as an event emcee in fiestas, parties, and election campaign rallies in their place. He helps his sister in Finland in a child custody battle against her abusive husband by involving the townspeople, faking legal documents, and setting up false endorsements to prove his sister’s financial capability.

Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa Wifi - Time To Disconnect And Learn To Love

For the upcoming Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) which will run from August 15-21 in cinemas all over the country. And one of them is a Romantic Comedy by Juna Lana, "Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa Wifi". Though it maybe a bizarre title,  the trailer showed potential with the chemistry of Jameson Blake and Sue Ramirez which is also paired with Markus Paterson (who initially was Jerome Ponce).

Now officially part of PPP, this film was made in collaboration with Cignal Entertainment, and this would be their first movie venture and positive with the first project that they made. Of course there is also The IdeaFirst Company (Jun Lana & Perci Intalan), and Octobertrain Films. 

Sue Ramirez plays Norma, a average student who has a relationship with varisty player Leo (Markus Paterson) who is also the brother of Aris (Jameson Blake) who is also in love with Norma. If that is not already complicated, Norma acquires a strange disease which make her sick whenever she is within rage of wifi. With no sure cure of treatment to her sickness, the family decided to bring her to the remote house of their Grandmother to get well. But with the disconnection with the outside world, without cellphone signal or internet connection, it affects the relationship of Leo and Norma, however Aris may see this an an opportunity to be close with Norma.
