Kwentong Jollibee’s short films define love with true, modern-day Pinoy stories

What is the real meaning of love? This is the question that Jollibee aims to answer with its latest heartfelt and swoon-worthy Kwentong Jollibee Valentines series.

Back at it again after the series’ continuous success, Jollibee and McCann WorldGroup keep Kwentong Jollibee episodes real and fresh by exploring new, true-to-life stories unique to the experiences of Filipinos in these current times.

The shorts 600 Days and Dream Guy are directed by Antoinette Jadaone, while ILY is directed by JP Habac. Both acclaimed filmmakers have captured the hearts of Pinoy audiences with previous Kwentong Jollibee episodes–LDR (2021) by Jadaone and the smash-hit One True Pair The Movie (2021) featuring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo by Habac. To date, the series has amassed more than 44.6 million views on the Jollibee Studios YouTube channel and the Jollibee Facebook page combined.

“What makes every Kwentong Jollibee film resonate and touch the lives of Filipinos is that these stories are rooted in the Filipino experience. We continuously make an effort to have our viewers know that their emotions, situations, problems, and successes are seen and heard while constantly reminding them that while the world may change, love will always remain constant and unflinching,” said Arline Adeva, Jollibee Assistant Vice President and Head of Brand PR, Engagement, and Digital Marketing.

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is one with the Philippines and other United Nations (UN) countries in a push for a new global treaty on plastic pollution, which will be discussed at this year’s UN Environment Assembly or UNEA 5.2.

The Philippines is a co-sponsor of the Peru and Rwanda Resolution which proposes that UNEA establishes an Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) with a mandate to prepare a new legally binding global agreement that would form part of international law.

At UNEA 5.2, happening this February 28 to March 4, 2022 to also coincide with the 10th anniversary of its creation and the 50th anniversary of the UN Environment Programme, UN Member States are expected to adopt a decision to start negotiations on a new treaty on plastic pollution. More than three-fourths of the UN membership publicly support the development of a new global agreement along with more than 2.1 million individuals, 25 financial institutions, and more than 60 companies globally.

#BrigadangAyalaKaakay: Prepaid load business keeps Madaluyong's trusted sari-sari store afloat

For almost two decades now, 60-year-old Mary Magaling of Mandaluyong has relied on her sari-sari store to provide for her family. But just like other small business owners, she found herself on the brink of bankruptcy when the pandemic struck.

"Konting-konti nalang po, talagang magsasara na dapat ako," Magaling said. "Sobrang hirap po ng sitwasyon ngayon dahil walang panggastos ang mga tao."

Magaling said she often finds herself longing for the days when things were normal--most people were employed, and businesses were flourishing. Back then, her store was able to support the schooling of her three nieces who were living with her. And, for many years, she has been the constant go-to person of her suki when budget runs short, and they could only afford tingi-tingi (small quantities of goods).
