BPI’s Search for Outstanding Children of OFWs Extended up to Sept 30

Bank of the Philippine Islands announces the extension of the deadline of submission of entries for the 2013 Search for the Ten Outstanding Expat Pinoy Children until September 30, 2013. BPI opens the opportunity for more college students to join the nationwide Search, especially those who are challenged by the conditions of the month-long stormy weather.

Running on its 7th year now, the Search is among the significant initiatives of BPI for the Overseas Filipino community.  The Search honors the exemplary achievements in the academic and non-academic fields of our OFW’s children. Ten among many hopefuls nationwide will be awarded in categories such as Ibang Klaseng Talino, Ibang Klaseng Community Leader, Ibang Klaseng Entrepreneur, and Ibang Klaseng Artist/Athlete, at a ceremony where awardees will be receiving their respective trophies and a cash prize of Php 50,000.00 credited to a BPInoy Savings Account.

More than just quality and efficient remittance services, BPI also commits itself in the empowerment of Overseas Filipinos by recognizing the values of excellence that they’ve imparted to their children despite the challenges that they face as a family of an OFW. “Children of Overseas Filipinos have become more aware of the sacrifice that their parents have endured just to sustain their family. The annual Search has rallied students nationwide as an avenue for them to give back to their parents abroad. We’ve extended the opportunity for more applicants to join because we understand their eagerness in making their parents proud,” says Roy Emil S. Yu, BPI’s Senior Vice President and Overseas Customer Segment and Remittance Head.

Applicants who are qualified to join based on the Search’s guidelines must submit an essay, either in English or Filipino, answering the following topic: “Overseas migration has its gains and pains. As the daughter/son of an OFW, how can you help optimize the economic gains of your parent’s employment overseas and minimize the social risks that your family faces due to distance and years of separation?” The essay must be typewritten, double-spaced, and must contain at least 1,000 words but not more than 1,200 words.
