Asian Persuasion - Fixing Love with Asian Suave

Award winning producer Jhett Tolentino makes his commercial directorial debut with something close to his heart and roots with Asian Persuasion starring KC Concepcion, Dante Basco, Paolo Montalban, and Kevin Krieder and written by Mike Ang. This film has also been part of the San Diego Film Festival 2023, and also won Audience Choice Award at the Soho International Film Fest.

This is also a comeback to the big screen by KC Concepcion who has been in and out of the country yet has not made any new series or movies recently which made her fans miss her more. She is paired with two charismatic Filipino American actors Dante Basco, and Paolo Montalban in a intriguing complication of love, dreams and friendship.

KC plays Avery, who is divorced to Dante's character Mickey and tries to set her up with a new relationship with a man named Lee (Paolo Montalban) and is accompliced by his best friend Caspian (Kevin Krieder). But things don't go as planned when Mickey realizes he still loves her.

The movie is also diverse in terms of the many elements of the story such as the establishments featured which are mostly Asian cuisine and owned businesses and includes a diverse soundtrack from many Asian artists suited to bring the mood of the scene to life. It also features cameos of Apl.De.Ap, Yam Concepcion, Tony Labrusca, Rachelle Alejandro, Fe Delos Reyes, Rex Navarette, and more.

After their debut screenings in Soho and San Diego, they had their first commercial screening held in the Philippines to share to the motherland the achievement they made for the Filipino community especially in America. It's also just in time after the Actors' and Writers' strike in the US which greatly affected the entertainment industry.

The recent Philippine premiere is also a homecoming for actors who has done many projects and characters to promote the talents of Filipino American actors. Jhett Tolentino shares his joy in making this film which is set in New York City, partnered with many Asian businesses, written, directed and produced by Asians especially by Pinoys. 

The film overall is fun and makes use of the love of Asians for food which is also integral to the story and their relationships. Seeing KC back at acting is something we did miss very much. Dante and Paolo also showed now natural they are as Fil-Am actors. Indeed, something heartwarming and fun with so many cultural references that is not too overwhelming and also raise Asian pride worldwide.

Asian Persuasion is showing in Philippine cinemas staring November 29, 2023.
