Gloc9, 1:43 lead Coco Fest show in SM City San Pablo on Sunday

Iconic Filipino rapper Gloc9 and award-winning boyband 1:43 will perform in a musical show celebrating the annual Coconut Festival of San Pablo City on Sunday (January 4).

Presented by socialized housing development BellaVita Land Corp., the free concert will be held at the mall atrium of SM City San Pablo. The show will start at exactly 3PM.

MUSIC LYF: OPM boy band 1:43 has grown up

When the boy band 1:43 started four years ago, quite a handful of detractors didn’t mince words in saying that they were K-Pop spin-offs, that they didn’t have the range to become successful music performers. They immediately dismissed the group as flash-in-the-pan, something that the audience would forget as soon as another hot male group comes along.

Three best-selling albums, a string of monster hits, multi-million views of their music videos on Youtube, and hundreds of jam-packed performances across the archipelago later, 1:43 members Anjo Resurreccion, Argee Golding, Gold Aquino and Yuki Sakamoto have not only proved their detractors wrong. They have also exceeded expectations by become one of the country’s most successful (and most desirable) music groups in recent memory.

Filipino pop group 1:43 (one forty-three) once again scored commercial success in their third all-original album titled #KalyePop (KPop) released last week under MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines).

#KalyePop was reportedly selling like hotcakes in various Astrovision, Astroplus and Odyssey record bars in Metro Manila while certain branches run out of stocks a few days after copies landed on the shelves according to the initial sales reports of the label.

MUSIC LYF: Boy band 1:43 puts a new twist to KPop in third album

OFTEN mistaken for Korean pop superstars, proudly all-Filipino boy band 1:43 (one forty-three) gives the term KPop a whole new meaning in their third album titled #KalyePop.

Due for release this April under MCA Music, the EP titled #KalyePop (KPop) is composed of six strong original tracks from the foremost Filipino boy band that popularized “Sa Isang Sulyap Mo,” the monster hit song that won the 2013 PMPC Star Award for Music “Song of the Year.”

“#KalyePop or KPop is our humble contribution to the rebirth of the local music industry. We hope that our new musical direction will advance our mission of winning back the Filipino audiences to Original Pilipino Music (OPM),” says boy band spokesman Anjo Resurreccion.

MUSIC LYF: Boy band 1:43 excites social media with gay-themed song

Foremost Filipino boy band 1:43, the original hit makers of the song “Sa Isang Sulyap Mo,” has once again stirred the interest of Pinoy netizens and radio listeners with their catchy gay-themed single.

Now a certified radio hit, the song “Hayop Sa Ganda” composed by the group’s road manager and musician Urie Tesorio, pays tribute to the incomparable pulchritude of Filipino transgender women. Its official music video featuring Vice Ganda’s prominent sidekick Negi and Miss Tourism Queen International 2012 Kevin Balot is expected to break online two week from now.

Facebook, Youtube ban OPM band’s video for being “inappropriate”

TEEN BAND Line of 7 has created a stir on various social media channels this week after it released online a music video that did not leave anything to the imagination.

The risqué promotional video for the group’s debut single “Langit” has been banned a few times on Facebook and Youtube after concerned netizens reported the video for being “inappropriate” because of its frontal nudity and breasts exposure contents.
