Former Solon Accuses Steel Manufacturers Of Dilatory Tactics

“Nililihis nila ang usapan. Iniiba nila ang topic samantala simple lang naman ang tanong (They are veering away from the topic). They want the discussions to be technical when I only need a yes or no answer. Are quenched steel rebars safe to use in a seismic zone 4 country like the Philippines?”

In 2010, Engineer Emilio Morales presented the study “A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER 2 – THE USE OF QT OR TMT BARS IN SEISMIC ZONE 4” where he said that QT/TMT rebars behave quite differently under Cyclic loading or earthquake shaking and are also very much affected by heating, welding, bending, galvanizing and threading procedures employed in their use particularly in high rise buildings under Seismic Zone

Playing Russian Roulette

Last Friday May 11, 2018, the Department of Trade and industry’s Secretary Ramon Lopez presided over a forum of stakeholders at the BOI AVR Room where Engineer Emilio Morales presented again before the construction industry and leaders of various government agencies the study “A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER 2 - THE USE OF QT OR TMT IN SEISMIC ZONE 4”

Nikki Coseteng Exposes Serious Steel Dangers

Former Senator Nikki Coseteng made a public presscon recently to expose the grave dangers of substandard materials used to make structures like high rise buildings and public structures. Backed up by a intensive study made by Engr. Emil Morales, the findings show that certain materials does not pass the standards in construction and will be highly volatile in the structural integrity.

With the construction boom and the Build Build Build project boosting the demand for work and materials in the Philippines, especially in the major cities, the strength of these structures should be a priority given that the country is within the Pacific Ring of Fire which is highly at risk for earthquakes and tsunamis. Also that the country experiences high winds due to typhoons, can also affect durability in terms of water porosity, cement density and strength.
