Rock Legend Rick Springfield in "Ricki and the Flash"‏

At Ricki’s (Meryl Streep) side, on lead guitar in Columbia Pictures’ new dramedy “Ricki and the Flash,” director Jonathan Demme cast rock legend Rick Springfield. Best known for his 80s-era hits, including “Jessie’s Girl,” Springfield’s career has taken on new dimensions with multifaceted and complex acting roles.

“The part of Greg is definitely dual-purpose,” says Demme. “We needed a terrific actor capable of going toe-to-toe with Meryl Streep, but also an authentic shredder. I was worried about finding a great Greg. The assignment to our great casting directors was to find any actor who can play guitar and might have the capacity to step up. Find anyone in that age range – I’ll see anybody. And then Rick Springfield came in, we meet him, he’s very nice – and then he plugs in and he’s amazing.”

Judd Apatow's New Comedy "Trainwreck" Exclusive at Ayala Malls Cinemas‏

No contemporary filmmaker has chronicled the messy human experience with the eye and ear of a comedic cultural anthropologist like Judd Apatow. Hits as varied as those he’s directed, like “Knocked Up” and “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” and those he’s produced, like “Superbad” and “Bridesmaids,” are all unified by their honest, unflinching, comic look at how complicated it is to grow up in the modern world.

Apatow has also built a history of helping break distinctive new comedy voices into the mainstream, from Seth Rogen to Lena Dunham among many others. Now, in his fifth feature film as a director, Apatow again brings a portrait of an unforgettable character, and a portrayal by a breakout new comedy star, together in “Trainwreck,” written by and starring Amy Schumer (“Inside Amy Schumer”) as a woman who lives her life without apologies, even when maybe she should apologize.

REEL DEAL: The Water Diviner REVIEW

Russel Crowe has established his prowess in acting in many ways, but there is something different when he made a movie, The Water Diviner which he directed and starred.

Set in two very far countries, It showed the story of a Austrailian farmer and diviner who had to send his sons for the first world war. Tragedy strikes when he got a letter that they might have perished in a warzone of Galipolli.  Bringing them back dead or alive was his promise to his wife.

The movie may have that formulaic approach with family movies, but it did do well in delivery and storytelling. With two contrasting cultures of Australia and Turkey, one would never realize that there can be a connection that can be established between them.

Directed by Russell Crowe, Produced by Troy Lum, Andrew Mason, and Keith Rodger. Written by Andrew Anastasios Andrew Knight. Starring Russell Crowe, Olga Kurylenko, Jai Courtney, Cem Yılmaz, and Yılmaz Erdoğan.

REEL DEAL: Olga Kurylenko, a Beautiful, Resilient Widow in "The Water Diviner"‏

Ukraine-born actress Olga Kurylenko (“Quantum of Solace,” “Oblivion”) stars opposite Russell Crowe in the critically acclaimed, life-affirming tale “The Water Diviner.”

In the film, Crowe plays Australian farmer Joshua Connor, who, in 1919, goes in search of his three missing sons, last known to have fought against the Turks in the bloody Battle of Gallipoli. Arriving in Istanbul, Connor is thrust into a vastly different world, where he encounters Ayshe (Kurylenko), a strikingly beautiful but guarded hotelier raising a child alone.

REEL DEAL: Happy Songs In "THE VOICES"

In the thrilling horror psycho dark comedy “The Voices,” director Marjane Satrapi and scribe Michael Perry have created a great symphony of a movie with a perfect ensemble of actors in Ryan Reynolds, Anna Kendrick and Gemma Arterton as lead stars about a very likeable serial killer trying to be accepted within society’s norms.

Reynolds takes on the role of Jerry Hickfang, a schizophrenic trying blend in with normal folks in a town called Milton while simultaneously lending his voice to Bosco, his dog and to Mr. Whiskers, his cat in the movie.

REEL DEAL: Director Marjane Satrapi Elevates "THE VOICES" With Highest of Notes

Acclaimed graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi directs Ryan Reynolds in what critics are saying to be the best performance yet of his career in “The Voices” that also stars Gemma Arterton and Anna Kendrick.

The story opens on Jerry’s (Reynolds) early days at his new job. Mesmerized by the ballet-like trajectory of pink forklifts amongst the bustling computer-controlled assembly lines at Milton Fixture and Faucet’s modern factory, he wears pink overalls and heavy gloves, and is proud of his work.  At home, he is not the brightly clad guy as he is perceived to be and talks to his pets – a dog and a cat that Jerry believes are talking back to him.

REEL DEAL: Ryan Reynolds Tries To Fit In Despite Being A Misfit In “THE VOICES”

Injecting new twist on the serial killer movie genre, acclaimed graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi helms “The Voices” with a perfectly pitched cast led by Ryan Reynolds along with Gemma Arterton and Anna Kendrick in a story so unique about a misfit who walks on a very thin line between being the protagonist and antagonist.

In “The Voices,” Reynolds stars as Jerry Hickfang who works at a bathtub factory and attempts to walk the straight-and-narrow, in spite of his talking pet dog and cat trying to influence him. When he accidentally kills an attractive woman from accounting (Arterton), he hastily tries to cover his tracks. But Jerry is beyond the reach of his well-meaning psychiatrist Dr. Warren (Jacki Weaver) and Lisa (Anna Kendrick), the only woman he ever truly loved, and spirals into a world of violence where he ultimately finds salvation.

REEL DEAL: Katie Holmes - Not Your Usual Vigilante In "MISS MEADOWS"

One would never assume a tap-dancing preschool teacher with perfect manners, perfect clothes and a perfect garden would moonlight as a vigilante, but then, Katie Holmes' Miss Meadows is on a league of her own.

Myriad Pictures' dark comedy "Miss Meadows" stars Holmes as a dainty teacher who takes it upon herself to right the wrongs of this world by whatever means necessary. But when Miss Meadows falls in love with the town sheriff (James Badge Dale), she needs to decide what's more important: love or her little secret.

REEL DEAL: Emma Stone Nominated For Best Supporting Actress At The Oscars For Her Role In "BIRDMAN"

This year’s frontrunner at the Oscars, “Birdman” will open exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas on January 28 and has thus far dominated the Academy Award with nine nominations in major categories including Best Picture.  Other notable nominations for “Birdman” includes Best Director (Alejandro González Iñárritu), Best Actor (Michael Keaton), Best Supporting Actor (Edward Norton),  Best Supporting Actress (Emma Stone), Best Cinematography, Best Original Screenplay, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing.

In “Birdman,” Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s black comedy, Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton) hopes that by spearheading an ambitious new Broadway play he will, among other things, revive his moribund career. In many ways, it is a deeply foolhardy move – but the former cinema superhero has high hopes that this creative gambit will legitimize him as an artist and prove to everyone – and himself – that he is not just a Hollywood has-been.

REEL DEAL: “THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU” Arrives With US Critical Acclaim

Warner Bros. Pictures' endearing family dramedy “This is Where I Leave You” arrives exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas nationwide on Dec. 17 with a flurry of rave reviews from highly regarded American critics.

Variety's resident film reviewer Scott Foundas writes, “`This Is Where I Leave You' is a sprawling ensemble dramedy that starts out like a full-tilt sitcom and gradually migrates to a place of genuine feeling. Repping a concerted effort by `Night at the Museum' and `Cheaper by the Dozen' helmer Shawn Levy to spread his wings beyond the gilded cage of family-friendly tentpoles, this alternately manic and mawkish adaptation of Jonathan Tropper’s 2009 novel aims for `Terms of Endearment' territory and ends up somewhere closer to a Semitic `August: Osage County.' But a tremendous ensemble cast gives the pic a significant boost, especially when they’re allowed to act rather than merely act out.

REEL DEAL: “STAR WARS 7” Villain Adam Driver Shines In “THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU

Before donning the villain's cloak in the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” promising actor Adam Driver (HBO's “Girls”) appears in Warner Bros. Pictures’ new heart-warming dramedy, “This is Where I Leave You” as Phillip, the youngest brother in an eccentric, dysfunction family.

When their father passes away, four grown siblings (Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Corey Stoll, Adam Driver), bruised and banged up by their respective adult lives, are forced to return to their childhood home and live under the same roof together for a week, along with their over-sharing mother and an assortment of spouses, exes and might-have-beens. Let the madness begin.

REEL DEAL: Jane Fonda An Over-Sharing Mother In “THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU

The dysfunctional siblings (played by Jason Bateman and Tina Fey) in Warner Bros.' dramatic comedy “This is Where I Leave You” is presided over by their devoted but proudly unconventional mother, Hilary, played by legendary Oscar-winner Jane Fonda.

As complex and combustible as the kids’ bonds are with each other, they pale in comparison to their relationship with their mother, the simultaneously regal and earthy Hilary.
