Viewers were left hanging last season with Rayna and  Deacon (Charles Esten) getting into a car accident after confirming that the latter is the father of Rayna’s first daughter. This season, it looks like Rayna and Juliette will have to work together. Will they ever be friends or will their battle to become THE queen of country music continue this season? The premise of the aurally pleasing series is an uncanny reflection of the music industry – a country music legend, Rayna James (Connie Britton, Friday Night Lights), is being eased out of the charts after 20 years in the spotlight by the next big thing, Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere, Heroes). What probably rubs Rayna the wrong way, is her record label’s insistence on organizing a co-headlining tour with Juliette, to bring up her numbers; and how even Rayna’s kids themselves are bobbing to the pop-oriented songs of her young, sexy and fame-hungry rival.
