There’s new blood to spill. Meet the new cast of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” led by Jonah Hauer King

Old horrors meet a brand new set of characters in I Know What You Did Last Summer, the continuation of the hit 1997 slasher film of the same name. Rising stars portray the young group of people dealing with the horrific consequences of their actions, and for director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the chemistry of the cast feels genuine. “The cast chemistry really leaps off the screen,” she continues. “It was like lightning in a bottle. It just was there, and it was amazing.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. return as the 1997 Southport Massacre survivors Julie James and Ray Bronson in I Know What You Did Last Summer

The highly anticipated follow-up to the iconic 1997 slasher film, I Know What You Did Last Summer, sees the return of Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., back in the fray with their career-launching roles of Julie James and Ray Bronson.

For director and writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, having the two original actors was critical to the next installment of the franchise. “Working with Freddie and Jen was amazing,” says Robinson. “It was important to me to make sure that both of their stories felt like a continuation. We wanted to know, how would something like this affect them 27 years later? Who would they become, and how will that inform how they advise and help this younger group?”

Slashers are so back. 90s nostalgia meets modern horror in “I Know What You Did Last Summer”

The original I Know What You Did Last Summer is one of the most iconic slasher films in cinema, and for producer Neal H. Moritz, it was time to bring the horror to a new generation of fans. “Horror fans have always had a soft spot for this franchise, and we felt there was still something here – a great central idea that could resonate with a new generation.

We came at the new film with passion for the material, a willingness to evolve the story, and a real respect for the fans who still talk about the original,” Moritz, who also produced the original 1997 film, says.

July 2 - Jurassic World Rebirth (Universal Pictures)

Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend

Directed by: Gareth Edwards

Five years after the events of “Jurassic World Dominion,” the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind. Scarlett Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure the genetic material. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on a forbidden island that had once housed an undisclosed research facility for Jurassic Park. There, in a terrain populated by dinosaurs of vastly different species, they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.
