MVP Group inspires true meaning of the holiday season with Tuloy Pa Rin Ang Pasko

As the COVID-19 pandemic and various typhoons batter the country in 2020, many Filipinos have been left with very little, making the coming holidays difficult to celebrate. Steadfast in its commitment to heed the call of those in need, the MVP Group is embarking on a country-wide donation drive called Tuloy Pa Rin Ang Pasko, where 22 companies and foundations under the leadership of Manuel V Pangilinan are uniting to pool funds for Noche Buena packs for families to enjoy.

The Noche Buena packs include meals and rice sacks which will depend on each company’s contribution. Some of the companies will also donate other essentials such as printers, pocket wifi, and toys for the children among others. Part of the donation will also include a fund to support various sectors and advocacies amid the new normal. These include teachers, farmers, public hospitals, as well as communities affected by recent typhoons and the Taal Volcano eruption of January 2020.

Keep on fighting: The admirable heroism of MVP Group’s frontliners

It’s been eight months since the quarantine began and the lives of people have drastically changed. While some have managed to ease into a new normal life at home, others are still out there risking their own lives to either save other people or make life much more comfortable for those who are staying at home.

In medical institutions under the MVP Group’s Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings, staff under the COVID-19 crisis teams run the risk of contracting the dreaded disease themselves. While the hospitals take every possible precaution to shield its healthcare workers from the virus—including the appropriate PPEs (personal protective equipment), stringent hospital safety measures, and meticulous airflow management—the frontliners still have a non-zero chance of infection.

Staff nurses Roselle Gale Arranz of the Manila Doctors Hospital and Glyza Cris Iguban of St. Elizabeth Hospital in General Santos City are among the many brave men and women in the medical field who have unfortunately contracted COVID-19 in the line of duty. Roselle shares her fears and frustrations when she found out about her COVID-positive status, "Naiyak ako, siyempre. Inisip ko: All this time, nag-aalaga ako ng may sakit, pero ngayong ako na ang may sakit, mag-isa lang ako.”

Filipino spirit of ‘bayanihan’, essential in PH economic revival amid COVID-19

A Filipino statesman and business leader called on a whole-of-society approach in helping revive the Philippine economy from its pandemic-induced recession.

In the recent economic forum, Ambassador Albert del Rosario emphasized the importance of the ‘bayanihan’ approach as essential in the Philippine economic revival from COVID-19. Ambassador del Rosario led the five-day Pilipinas 2020 conference organized by Stratbase ADR Institute. He serves as the Co-Chairman of the Board at Stratbase, along with Manuel V Pangilinan. Ambassador del Rosario is also in the Board of Directors of PLDT, the country’s largest integrated telco.

According to Ambassador del Rosario, the government and the private sector must collaborate to achieve an inclusive and sustainable economic recovery. This includes supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and collaborating with conglomerates to help the economic development of the country. This also aims to enable communities to cope with the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taking the lead: MVP Group sharpens focus on environment and sustainability projects in pandemic

While the global COVID-19 pandemic has forced most businesses to deprioritize non-essential sectors, the MVP Group of Companies has maintained its thrust for social responsibility, particularly with efforts related to environmental protection and sustainability.

MVP Group Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan says that despite the urgency of addressing concerns related to COVID-19, environmental protection must never take a back seat as climate change and other environmental concerns pose even greater dangers to human life.

“Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the world has already been facing daunting challenges on how to protect our environment and promote more equitable social development. If we don’t act now or even pause what we have already started, we might reach a point where we are no longer able to protect ourselves from the irreversible effects of environmental destruction. As a conglomerate that champions innovation and social responsibility in all our fields of business, we recognize the significance of our role in making a positive impact and contribute to the sustainable development of our country, people, and planet,” Pangilinan said.

The ethyl alcohol donation was from the Roxol Bioenergy Corporation, a company under the Roxas Holdings, Inc. These were transported and distributed to Metro Manila through the assistance of the Metropac Movers, Inc., PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) and the Makati Medical Center Foundation.
