REEL DEAL: Thor Ragnaork REVIEW

I was originally not a Thor fan, but this iconic superhero played by Chris Hemsworth eventually became one of my favorite avengers film. This third installment of series starring the god of thunder takes on a different ambiance as it shifted from the gloomy theme of Thor: The Dark World to a hilarious yet pivotal turning point with Thor: Ragnarok.

Just a few months after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which is banks on comedy to capture its audience, it was with this approach that Ragnarok was featured in its trailers. Since they do happen in the vast space, it seems fitting to align themselves towards their theme and would gravitate both of the movies together.

As Ragnarok means the end of the world, a new god is introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and her name is Hela played by Cate Blanchett. As the goddess of death, she is really a foe to be feared who could bring Asgard to ruins. Thor in the meantime find himself in a odd predicament where is made a warrior like gladiators.

Taika Waititi directed this film which is said to be his first hollywood movie. As a comedian himself, the comedic timing was on cue despite some are recurring jokes. It was really hilarious and made use of the outer space realm to introduce more alien life rather than focusing more on Earth.

Kneel for Your Queen: Cate Blanchett is Hela in "Thor: Ragnarok"

Thor has to deal with perhaps his most powerful enemy yet in Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, in the form of none other than Hela, the first female villain in a Marvel film.

The pivotal role is played by Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett (Cinderella, Blue Jasmine). Thor: Ragnarok opens in Philippine cinemas on October 25.

REEL DEAL: Spider-Man: Homecoming REVIEW and How To Win Tickets!

We have been waiting for this Spidey movie for quite some time now and we finally have it. Even there has been a number of movies played by Tobbey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield, we now have Tom Holland to play the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

He already debuted in Captain America: Civil War and was expected to have his own movie, but after that fans were quite worried that the story will be another reboot with Uncle Ben dying again.  The people behind the MCU assured that this won't happen again as they knew they have to stick to their own timeline which leads into bigger movies like 'Infinity War'.

Spider-Man Homecoming is also a great collaboration for Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures which is a progressive step to bring the Marvel characters into the same cinematic universe which made fans really happy. Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man is indeed great for his role and had that feel of an awkward teenager and a juvenile superhero.

Iron Man had just the right exposure for the film to set the story, emotions, and punch lines. Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) maybe unusually hot for a "tita" but still shows a caring parental figure for Peter. Captain America, as shown in the trailers, will also be seen but not necessary to the story. Being part of the Civil War, he will definitely come back in the next Avenger's movie and also a sequel in the works as well.

Fil-Am Actor is "Spider-Man's" Best Friend in "Homecoming"

Besides being your neighorbood superhero Spider-Man, high school student Peter Peter (Tom Holland) has an ordinary life to lead – helped out by his best friend, Ned, played by Filipino-American actor Jacob Batalon, in Columbia Pictures’ new action-adventure Spider-Man: Homecoming (now showing in Philippine cinemas).

While many of the actors in Spider-Man: Homecoming have experience with the behind-the-scenes demands of promoting an MCU film, Batalon is making his motion picture debut. (Not a bad way to start one’s career.)

Pinoy Actor Dave Bautista Back as Drax in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2"

For Fil-Am actor Dave Bautista (Spectre, upcoming Blade Runner 2049), returning to the Guardians fold in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was a chance to reprise a character he truly enjoys playing.

“What I really love about Drax is he’s not what you’d expect from reading the comics,” Bautista says. “Everybody was expecting one thing, and we gave them another. It makes it more interesting. It’s easy just to be the big guy who’s always growling at people and intimidating people. We’ve seen it a million times. But when you get the same guy who looks the same way but just says the most ridiculous things that make you laugh, it makes him more interesting.”
