"The Two Popes" Has The Perfect Casting

From Fernando Meirelles, the Academy Award-nominated director of “City of God,” and three-time Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Anthony McCarten, comes an intimate story of one of the most dramatic transitions of power in the last 2,000 years. Frustrated with the direction of the church, Cardinal Bergoglio (Jonathan Pryce) requests permission to retire in 2012 from Pope Benedict (Anthony Hopkins).

Instead, facing scandal and self-doubt, the introspective Pope Benedict summons his harshest critic and future successor to Rome to reveal a secret that would shake the foundations of the Catholic Church. Behind Vatican walls, a struggle commences between both tradition and progress, guilt and forgiveness, as these two very different men confront elements from their pasts in order to find common ground and forge a future for a billion followers around the world.

With the two having likeness with the actual popes, many were impressed with the casting and became hyped with the film. "The Two Popes"* will be streaming on Netflix in December.

REEL DEAL: Thor Ragnaork REVIEW

I was originally not a Thor fan, but this iconic superhero played by Chris Hemsworth eventually became one of my favorite avengers film. This third installment of series starring the god of thunder takes on a different ambiance as it shifted from the gloomy theme of Thor: The Dark World to a hilarious yet pivotal turning point with Thor: Ragnarok.

Just a few months after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which is banks on comedy to capture its audience, it was with this approach that Ragnarok was featured in its trailers. Since they do happen in the vast space, it seems fitting to align themselves towards their theme and would gravitate both of the movies together.

As Ragnarok means the end of the world, a new god is introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and her name is Hela played by Cate Blanchett. As the goddess of death, she is really a foe to be feared who could bring Asgard to ruins. Thor in the meantime find himself in a odd predicament where is made a warrior like gladiators.

Taika Waititi directed this film which is said to be his first hollywood movie. As a comedian himself, the comedic timing was on cue despite some are recurring jokes. It was really hilarious and made use of the outer space realm to introduce more alien life rather than focusing more on Earth.

REEL DEAL: Sam Worthington In The True Story of "KIDNAPPING FREDDYHEINEKEN"

Acclaimed actor Sam Worthington, who rose to worldwide attention with his lead role in James Cameron’s groundbreaking “Avatar” and further cemented his role as one of Hollywood’s most-sought lead stars, lends his star power in the gritty thriller “Kidnapping Freddy Heineken” along with Sir Anthony Hopkins in the titular role.

“Kidnapping Freddy Heineken” was filmed in Brussels, Antwerp, Amsterdam and New Orleans where the European leg of the production presented the producers with unusual challenges in replicating the time and place of the most notorious crime that happened in 1983 when brewery tycoon Freddy Heineken was abducted along with his chauffeur.

Written by William Brookfield and directed by Daniel Alfredson from the bestselling book (of true accounts) by crime scribe and Emmy Award-winning Peter R. De Vries, the movie pans back at the time when four friends planned, abducted and released Heineken after being paid a ransom that was considered to be the largest amount paid at such time.

REEL DEAL: Hitchcock TRAILER

MASTER OF SUSPENSE IN LOVE IN “HITCHCOCK” TEASER TRAILER

In the world of Alfred Hitchcock’s movies, chaos, danger and sinister evil hide in the shadows of his characters’ ordinary lives.  But what about Hitchcock’s own everyday life?  The consummately skilled director carefully cultivated a public persona – constructed out of his portly silhouette and macabre wit – that managed to keep his inner psyche tightly under wraps. But for decades the question has lingered:  might there be a way to get inside Hitchcock not as an icon but as a person?

Now, for the first time, filmmaker Sacha Gervasi’s “HITCHCOCK” lays bare a captivating and complex love story.  It does so through the sly, shadowy lens of their most daring filmmaking adventure:  the making of the spine-tingling 1960 thriller, “Psycho,” which would become the director’s most controversial and legendary film.  When the tumultuous, against-the-odds production was over, nothing about movies would ever be the same – but few realized that it took two to pull it off.

REEL DEAL: Hitchcock - POSTER

Here is the promotional poster for Hitchcock which is an upcoming film directed by Sacha Gervasi and based on Stephen Rebello's non-fiction book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. The film is scheduled to be released in the Philippines on February 6,2013 by 20th Century Fox.

The movie stars Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock in the production of his timeless classic, Psycho.
