Iron Man Recruits Team in "Captain America: Civil War" Posters‏

Find out which heroes support Tony Stark in his fight against Steve Rogers in the brand-new posters for Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War."

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm Showcase Upcoming Live-Action Slate‏

Disney, Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm presented their live action film slates recently at the D23 EXPO 2015 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif. The presentations, which revealed exclusive news and details about the upcoming live action films, were aided by live and video appearances from talent and filmmakers. Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn hosted the highly anticipated biennial event.

“It’s quite something to be able to have Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm all on the same stage, and it’s tremendously gratifying to unveil our upcoming projects to our most dedicated fans first,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “We always have an incredible time at the D23 EXPO.”

After welcoming the crowd to D23 EXPO 2015, Horn introduced Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, and Sean Bailey, President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, to present overviews of the Marvel Studios and Disney live action slates. Later Horn returned to the stage to present the Lucasfilm film slate to the enthusiastic audience.

A recap of the presentation follows:

Kevin Feige led off with a glimpse into the world of Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” featuring a video greeting by Benedict Cumberbatch, who stars as the title character, followed by a pre-production piece that offered fans a taste of the look and feel of the upcoming film, opening in U.S. theaters on October 26, 2016.

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” marched into D23 EXPO with an introduction by its producer, Kevin Feige. To the delight of the audience, Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie showed up on stage to help Feige show never-seen-before footage from the movie. Before the footage rolled, Feige revealed that there was a special “Easter egg” for fans to find: it was aptly a nod to D23 EXPO.

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain. Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” opens in the U.S. on May 6, 2016.

Marvel Cinematic Universe Welcomes "Ant-Man"‏

When Marvel’s “Ant-Man” hits Philippine theaters on July 15, director Peyton Reed believes the movie will surprise audiences. “Ant-Man is an incredibly powerful character,” says Reed. “He can shrink down to a very tiny size and actually command armies of different types of ants. The great thing about the comics and the great thing about this story is you get to see what kinds of things a bunch of ants can get done and the interesting ways in which they can help Scott Lang aka Ant-Man.”

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.”

Paul Rudd Suits Up as "Ant-Man"

In Marvel’s “Ant-Man,” multi-talented actor Paul Rudd (“I Love You, Man,” “Monsters vs. Aliens”) takes on the role of Scott Lang, a master burglar who becomes a Super Hero when his mentor, the original Ant-Man Hank Pym, takes him under his wing.

Explaining the relationship between Hank Pym and Scott, Rudd says, “My character Scott has nothing to do with Hank Pym. In fact, Scott is just getting out of jail where he’s been because he used his unique skill set to take down a corporation. But Hank Pym has singled him out; he’s found out who he was and has been watching him and sets up this scenario where Scott has to resort to his old ways. Scott winds up breaking into Pym’s house to get some money to help pay child support for his daughter, who’s really the only thing he cares about. Pym arranged the whole thing and has been pulling the puppet strings."

Corey Stoll is "Ant-Man" Villain Yellowjacket‏

Actor Corey Stoll (“The Strain,” “House of Cards”) is poised to bring a newly realized villain to the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he becomes Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket in Marvel’s “Ant-Man.”

Stoll explains, “There is a Darren Cross in the comics but he’s really not related to this and then there is a Yellowjacket but that was just one incarnation of Hank Pym, so this is its own thing and it’s an incredible license to be able to create a unique villain.”

Stoll was excited by the idea of playing a villain like Darren Cross because “the character is a great excuse for being able to be really broad and playful.” “Darren has this idea that he needs to be this salesman and this larger-than-life figure, so he goes at it but he keeps falling short,” elaborates Stoll. “It’s a really fun character to play because you have that opposition of the very scared little boy inside and the very boastful, industrial captain on the outside.”

Evangeline Lilly is Hope Van Dyne in Marvel's "Ant-Man"‏

When Evangeline Lilly was first approached to lend her talents to the part of Hope van Dyne in Marvel’s “Ant-Man,” she admits that she needed to do some research to get up to speed on Marvel.

“I was not familiar with Marvel comics or Ant-Man when I was first approached about the part, so I had to do some homework,” says Lilly. “I watched some Marvel films because I was completely ignorant of the incredible things that they were doing. I discovered that they are very talented with story and character and they know how to put on a spectacle. Then, when I was doing screen tests, they started showing me pre vis material of Ant-Man and the ants in action. Once I saw it with my own eyes, I suddenly realized how cool this movie was going to be and that it’s going to be something that has not been seen at all in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s going to have its own life and its own fan base.”

REEL DEAL: Sony, Marvel Find Their "Spider-Man" Star, Director‏

Tom Holland Cast as the Web-Slinger, Jon Watts to Direct the Next Spider-Man Adventure

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are proud to announce that after a full worldwide casting search, Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the next Spider-Man film, in theaters in IMAX and 3D on July 28, 2017. The film will be directed by Jon Watts, director of “Cop Car,” the upcoming thriller that made its debut earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.

Marvel and Sony Pictures, and producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal conducted an extensive search for both the actor and the director. The studios and producers were impressed by Holland’s performances in “The Impossible,” “Wolf Hall,” and the upcoming “In the Heart of the Sea,” and by a series of complex screen tests. Following Marvel’s tradition of working with the brightest next wave of directors, Watts also went through multiple meetings with Feige, Pascal, and the studio, before winning the job.

REEL DEAL: “ANT-MAN” Stands Tall In Pay-Off Poster

Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) blows up in a brand-new poster for Marvel's "Ant-Man" which has just been released by the studio.

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Marvel’s “Ant-Man” stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Peña as Luis, Judy Greer as Maggie, Tip “Ti” Harris as Dave, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, Wood Harris as Gale, Jordi Mollà as Castillo and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym.

Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s “Ant-Man” delivers a high-stakes, tension-filled adventure in Philippine cinemas on July 16, 2015.

REEL DEAL: Spider-Man Gets Animated And Dated With Phil Lord And Christopher Miller and Sony Pictures Entertainment

On July 20, 2018, Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, the directors of The Lego Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and 21 and 22 Jump Street, are taking Spider-Man back to his graphic roots with the first-of-its-kind animated Spider-Man feature, it was announced today at CinemaCon by Tom Rothman, chairman of the Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group. The film will exist independently of the projects in the live-action Spider-Man universe, all of which are continuing.

Lord & Miller are masterminding the project, writing the treatment and producing the film.

REEL DEAL: “AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON” Welcomes Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch

They became box-office movie stars with the release of last year's monster hit “Godzilla.” Now, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen make their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when they take on the roles of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, respectively, in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

One of the loose ends to clean up after the Battle of New York in the first “Avengers” film finds our Super Heroes in Eastern European Sokovia. This is where the Avengers encounter two new characters in the film – Pietro and Wanda Maximoff aka Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

Producer Kevin Feige says, “They have a very interesting introduction to The Avengers, which is why we wanted to use them in this film. They are not fans of The Avengers at all. They’re from this Eastern European country known as Sokovia that used to be a S.H.I.E.L.D post, but Hydra has been operating out of and it’s not the nicest organization.”

REEL DEAL: Johansson, Renner, Back as Black Widow, Hawkeye In "AVENGERS" Sequel

Acclaimed actors Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner reprise their beloved, kick-ass roles as Black Widow and Hawkeye, respectively, in Marvel's new action-adventure “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

When Johansson dons Black Widow’s gear for the new film, she has one clear goal in mind: keeping true to her character. She says, “The most important aspect of my job as an actor, who’s been carrying this character from ‘Iron Man’ to ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ is to keep consistency with the character’s arc and have the character’s evolution be one that is cohesive. You want to feel like the character is growing as opposed to just staying the same.”

Although Johansson worked with different directors over the course of inhabiting the Natasha Romanoff character, it was her first meeting with director/writer Joss Whedon that allowed her to explore her character’s past. “In my first meeting with Joss, I had the chance to talk about Natasha’s backstory and her sordid past,” recalls Johansson, “and I wanted to make sure that she stayed sort of gray, not really black or white. What’s exciting and compelling about the character is that she’s not Cap; she’s not righteous. She was in S.H.I.E.L.D. because it’s where she belonged, not necessarily that it was the right place to be. Now we find The Avengers in business as usual mode but it’s changing. So it’s my job to make sure that Natasha, through that change, stays true to the Natasha that I started with in ‘The Avengers.’”

REEL DEAL: Benedict Cumberbatch To Play Doctor Strange

The celebrated actor to become the Sorcerer Supreme!

Benedict Cumberbatch has entered the world of the mystic arts.

The actor will star in Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016 (including the Philippines). The film, directed by Scott Derrickson with Jon Spaihts writing the screenplay, will follow the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
