California Pizza Kitchen Celebrates National Pizza Day!

Global Restaurant Concepts Inc. (GRC) unveiled its first restaurant concept with California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) in the Philippines in 1997.  It was the first international franchise to be granted by the US pizza chain.  Sixteen years and ten branches later, CPK continues to dominate the premium pizza restaurant experience by opening two more outlets before the year ends.

CPK’s tenth restaurant begins serving in August at the ground floor of Eastwood Mall in time for the CPK-established celebration of National Pizza Day.  Since last year, the restaurant has started commemorating by giving away free pizza with every pizza order.  The one-day event has drawn up lines of diners outside each restaurant.

California Pizza Kitchen in Binondo!

The Binondo/Divisoria area is becoming a new food hotspot with the opening of California Pizza Kitchen at Lucky Chinatown Mall. This is their lucky eighth restaurant and is also opening more soon. They bring the great flavors of California especially their famous Pizza (obviously), and also new additions to their menu (see some of the dishes on FudFyt Blog). Also with a whole new look for their restaurant is something refreshing and cozy like your in a summer vacation somewhere along the California coastline.

With also a number of their customers who dine in at their their other branches are Chinoys from Binondo, it would become more convenient for them to enjoy their favorite pizza reataurant without going beyond Binondo. 

Even with reinventing some of the looks and adding new dishes, they still keep the quality and flavor that made them a foodies favorite. I have not yet been to California, but it sure has this ambiance of the being there. With also a wide variety of dishes inspired with the diversity of culture in the state would always give you a reason to come back for more.

We dined at the biggest branch of Shakey's so far in in Quezon Avenue near Delta which includes an indoor arcade with video games, hoops, etc. for kids and kids at heart.


 We dined with their best sellers like the peperoni and manager's choice pizza, chicken and mojos and tried their newest dessert offering, the Shakey's FroYo (Frozen Yougurt, which you can choose your toppings!). But for this event, Shakey's rolls out a new pizza flavor that is close to the Pinoy palette. A great fusion of our favorite Spanish ingredients that we have incorporated into a pizza. 

Its is, a brand new pizza flavor that will be available starting today! Its the New Pizza Castellana! It may look like a regular pizza with "large pepperonis" but this is  made from authentic and glistening Spanish Chorizo from Barcelona, made more flavourful with indigenous spices, and topped with red bell peppers and red onions on cheddar cheese and pizza sauce spread so invitingly on its world-famous brick oven-baked pizza.
