Based on the wickedly hilarious and couture-filled book of the same title by Rosalie Ham, “The Dressmaker” is set at 1951 in a town called Dungatar, a one-horse town deep in the wheat belt of south-east Australia.  The sleepy town of Dungatar is suddenly alarmed at the return of Tilly Dunnage (Academy Award winner Kate Winslet), a beautiful, talented misfit, who’s been working as a dressmaker in France for the great haute couture designers, returns home to Dungatar, a one-horse town deep in the wheat belt of south-east Australia. After 20 years away, Tilly has been driven back by a recent tragedy, to do two things – look after her ailing, eccentric mother Molly (Judy Davis), and right the wrongs of the past that continue to haunt her. Tilly Dunnage has revenge in her heart.

“SICARIO” Bags Best Opening Indie Film In The US For 2015

Golden Globe® winner Emily Blunt, who gave impressive characterization of her roles in memorable hit movies such as “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Edge of Tomorrow,” “Into The Woods” and “Looper” takes on another strong female character in “Sicario” opposite Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin about an agent hired to bust drug cartels in Mexico. 

While “Sicario” first opened on a limited release showing in only six theaters, it sure made a strong impact in box-office records due to its rave reviews when it earned almost US$ 67,000 per theatre, earning over US$400,000 making it the highest grossing title on a limited release achieved by an independent film for the year.  With its follow up wide release on its second weekend, “Sicario” continued to seize this year’s indie-film arena, with US$26.7million in earnings to-date (and counting), it is now US’ second in the top five independent releases of 2015.

Languido, Tabal win in biggest 39th National MILO Marathon Gen San race

Reigning MILO Marathon Queen and SEA Games medalist Mary Joy Tabal and MILO Marathon veteran Juneil Languido breezed through the running routes at the National MILO Marathon qualifying leg in General Santos on Sunday. About 9,000 runners joined the race, making this year’s MILO Marathon the biggest fun run in General Santos, to date.

Languido and Tabal each took home the top prize of P10,000 in cash and a trophy; and earned their slots to the National MILO Marathon Finals. The finals will be held in Angeles on December 6, where they will meet the nation’s elite runners in a heated grand finale to claim the MILO Marathon King and Queen titles. To provide another level of prestige to the competition and incentive for the runners, this year’s King and Queen will be sent by MILO to the USA on all-expense paid trips, for a chance to run in the prestigious 2016 Boston Marathon.
