REEL DEAL: The Accountant REVIEW

After debuting as Batman for Dawn of Justice, Ben Affleck goes back to thrilling drama with THE ACCOUNTANT. As he directed / produced / featured in award winning films like Argo and Gone Girl, The Accountant spells another dark movie with twisted characters. However it proves to be different when we saw this.

Though it shows the double life of Accountant Christian Wolff which actually does accounting work but with a dangerous clientele. And with his dangerous occupation, he remains calm and focused with every move despite having autism which bothered his family in his younger years. Now he grew and became an very efficient professional and even in his personal life.

Anna Kendrick may be known for musicals and comedies, but she again challenges herself to do dark plot with some moments of jokes which are well delivered. But again the movie is really serious with guns, blood, and money on the line. Other characters like JK Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson stood out with the perdicament they have and also knowing that they also came from comic book movies/series like Spiderman and Arrow.

Sci-Fi Thriller "Arrival" Based on Acclaimed Short Story

In Columbia Pictures' provocative science-fiction thriller Arrival, a mysterious spacecraft touches down across the globe, and an elite team - lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) - are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity. Also starring Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker.

“I've dreamed of doing science fiction since I was ten years old,” explains director Denis Villeneuve, who fell deeply in love with the short story Arrival is based upon, Ted Chiang’s ‘Story of Your Life.’ “It’s a genre that I feel has a lot of power and the tools to explore our reality in a very dynamic way.”

REEL DEAL: Doctor Strange REVIEW

Marvel Studios is on a roll again but this time into a whole new dimension of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with DOCTOR STRANGE. The Sorcerer Supreme finally gets his own movie in the newest phase of the comic series. Along with Captain America Civil War, it is one of the most anticipated comic book movie for 2016 and the casting was perfect with Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange.

Doctor Strange will now bring mysticism to the action-filled films of the other member of the avengers and the guardians of the galaxy, also the also mystical realm of Asgard. But this time it does not need to go beyond Earth as it taps into the mystical powers practiced by humans.

I gave rarely read comics of Doctor Strange since he is mysterious character which would be a challenge to brought to a live action film given the depth of mystic arts and its philosophy that will be shown to the general movie goers. But interestingly, they created a balanced mix of the occult and science which remains to be the most contrasting themes ever.

With a large serving of visuals and themes, it can somehow induce visual seizures with the vast themes incorporated for the scenes. But for the regular movie goer, it can be quite amusing depending on one's psyche.
