"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" Opens at No.1, Grosses P145.2-M in 5 Days

The Philippines is one with The Force as Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi grossed a staggering P145.2-M in its first five days of release, opening at No.1 for the Dec. 13-17 frame.

Receiving some of the most glowing reviews in years, the Rian Johnson-directed tentpole was lauded by local critics and fans alike, with some even saying its the best Star Wars movie yet.

The biggest box-office grosses were reported by SM Megamall (P7.1-M), SM Mall of Asia (P6.5-M) and SM North EDSA (P5.6-M).

Universal Records Signs New Promising Band Better Days

Better Days formally signed a recording contract with Universal Records on Monday. The band is composed of Daniel Paringit on vocals and guitars, Jaro delos Reyes on guitar, Gelo Cabigon on bass and Rosner Mabuti on keyboards. Epson Strengthens partnership with DepEd on Gift of Brightness project

The partnership between the Department of Education (DepEd) and Epson Philippines on the digital imaging company’s Gift of Brightness program for youth and education was formalized during the Memorandum of Agreement ceremonial signing for DepEd partners held recently at the L.B. Soriano Hall, SEAMEO Innotech in Quezon City.

As a company, Epson has always supported the youth and education through various projects and advocacies, one of which is the Gift of Brightness program, started in 2013.

World-Class leather goods maker McJim Classic Leather has chosen iconic Filipino boy band 1:43 as the second recepient of its Dreams Get Real OPM Advocacy Grant  for its new single “Pasensya Na.”

McJim Classic Leather, which has always been supportive of Filipino music, tapped the revamped 1:43 to further promote OPM by making it more appealing and relevant, especially to the younger generation. Ang Larawan gets a unanimous “A” from the Cinema Evaluation Board

“Ang Larawan,” the lone musical entry in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival, has gotten a grade of “A” from the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).

The musical written by National Artist for Theater Rolando Tinio and composed by Ryan Cayabyab is the only film this year wherein all CEB eleven members who previewed gave the highest grade. The CEB summation stated, “It is seldom and rare that the members of the Board give a unanimous A to a film.“
