this is my initial reaction upon seeing the new Samsung SMART TV that was displayed during iBlog 7. And looking at its design unimaginatively thin dimension. And that is only just the tip of the iceberg on what it specifications and features.   


As flat TV is gaining popularity in this new decade, the clamor for a TV that can do more than airing shows and be used as a video output for players and consoles. And surprisingly, Samsung has come up with the Samsung SMART TV series. 


Like I mentioned it was featured in iBlog 7 bloggers' convention at UP. And with the audience saw the TV, eyes were very glued to the SMART TV and almost diverted the attention from the speakers. Definitely everybody wants it, even me.

We would now list the things that we can do with this SMART TV. They don't call it SMART for nothing of course. Listing some of it specs did make my mouth water...

And as first hand experience with this innovation, of course I would try the surfing capabilities of it. Here I tried to open plurk.com , a site similar to twitter, to 'plurk' about this. And as I got to the first page, I was at first shocked on how the website would look on a very wide screen. Cool!

Watching Youtube will also be more fun to watch with a cool interface like this one. These are actually apps that can be downloaded like you can do with tablet PC like the Samsung Galaxy tab or Smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S.

 Of course, I cannot forget to log in to Facebook and give a shoutout in my wall that I am using the Samsung 9000 LED SMART TV. And with this blog, it will surely get likes!

 I actually used the remote in typing the status, and it was like texting. However, they would also have a remote that have  a touch function and interactive menus. I could also compare it when I use a gaming console to surf the net with the TV, but its more better and less the need for another equipment.

 As you can see, I cant help myself to post this on my wall to have a feel on what it is like, and it loads much faster since the connection is directly from the television itself. I also read that aside from Ethernet connection, you can also usea wireless connection using an adapter that is sold separately.

Doing google searches would be best with a wider and clearer screen which the LED so that there would be less eye strain and also better view of the results. Plus, when there is a special homepage event on google, you can't help but smile.

The samsung apps are readily available on the net with a great interface for easy navigation. Organized in tabs and with a cool blue effect won't your leave your head aching with so many clutter the internet can bring.

 

Aside from internet clutter, you can also reduce video clutter with a directory of movies that you can just pick and watch them real time, this is also one of the features of the Samsung apps available for download.

These features would help you personalize what you what to have in your TV, just like your computer. Thus making it your personal TV. So there can be a thousand ways that you can enjoy the TV more with just your remote. View TV feed with crisp sound and video. And it can also support 3D for a very realistic watching pleasure!

 Finding a place to set it up is also not a problem with its very thin dimension, that I could not also believe my eyes until I touch the TV itself. With just 0.31 inches, its more thinner than a laptop. You will also notice the metallic finish on the side makes it more of a huge tablet PC than an television.

With news, weather, entertainment, and even blogs can be viewed with this TV, you can truly have a complete recreation time less the hassles of having so many things with just a few clicks of the remote. And since I also grew with Samsung products, they are made with quality (one of the CRT TV we had for more than 8 years is still working perfectly!), they are a perfect investment in the house. And as we know that TV is a necessity  for every Filipino home, having one would be the best thing we have in our home.

If I do have one, I will love to do blogging using this one! Inviting friends to watch movies which quality just like being at the cinema itself. And with its sleek design and dimensions, it can blend in perfectly wherever I would take it. Also having information readily available via the internet will keep me informed and entertained even when the stations goes off air or boring. GAMMA KNIFE: Surgery Without The Knife, Saving More Lives

Ailments in the brain is probably the most complicated and the most risky surgical procedure foe the human body. Brain tumors would be the worst nightmare in reality for anyone. And according to statistics, the Philippines is second to to most number of Brain cancer cases in South East Asia. And mostly, tumors are lately diagnosed which is either in its critical stages and removal would be the only option for survival.

However, to remove these tumors open surgery is the only option. However ELEKTA AB, a company from Sweden have came up with the LEKSELL GAMMA KNIFE, by Dr. Lars Leksell, of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholma,   a treatment that uses high-intensity radiation that is coordinately concentrated to the target volume, destroying the tumor cells from the inside. GAMMA KNIFE usually contains 201 colbalt-60 sources with approximately 30 curies passed to a specially designed helmet fixed to the skull, this give precision in targeting the cells without affecting the other normal cells.

You may think that this treatment would only be available in industrialized countries but surprizingly we have this facility available here in the Philippines exclusively at the Cardinal Santos Memorial Medical Center. It was established in 1998 to provide the Filipino patient access to neurosurgical technology that was difficult to access. It was created to become a center of excellence for Stereotactic Neurosurgery and Radiosurgery.

The Head Frame

Gamma Knife minimizes the possibility of developing complications. Following the patient’s admission, a stereotactic frame is attached to the patient’s head, then, neuroimaging such as MRI, CT Scan or cerebral angiography is performed. A marker on the stereotactic frame allows the Gamma Knife team to localize the tumor or vascular malformation with exact precision on a state of the art computer work station. When the plan is complete, actual treatment will follow which usually last a single day.

This is why it is preferred by the experts. Morbidity is low and mortality is none.

MUSIC LYF: Kris Aquino's New Album My Heart's Journey

Kris Aquino's life is not exclusive to a single song, that is why she launches her own albums that include songs close to her heart, especially for healing and reflection. Kris Aquino, despite being the presidential sister and a top media celebrity.
