An epic series seven years in the making, today’s trailer gives audiences an exciting preview of what to expect from this legendary story launching September 13 on Disney+

With just a few weeks left until the Disney+ exclusive September 13 debut of Japanese anime Phoenix: Eden17, fans today were given an exciting preview of the series with the release of new key art and a first-look trailer.

Based on the seminal work of Osamu Tezuka, the “God of Manga”, Phoenix: Eden17 will take audiences on an extraterrestrial adventure with Romi and her partner George as they flee earth for a new start on Eden17. While the promise of a utopia-like future beckons, reality hits hard when the pair arrive to discover nothing more than a desolate frontier incapable of supporting human life. With no way home and Romi discovering she’s pregnant, the couple have no choice but to try and survive – sourcing water and cultivating fields as best they can. However, just as things start looking up for the pair, George is killed in an accident. With Romi and her child Cain now alone, Romi enters a hibernation pod, promising her son she’ll wake up in 13 years to make sure he’s not alone forever. However, the system malfunctions and Romi awakens on Eden17 1,300 years later.

The scare sequences in “The Nun II” feel fresh and are not derivative of the earlier films, says producer

What is it about nuns that works so well in horror movies, such as “The Nun” and its upcoming sequel?

“I think that it’s the idea of the ultimate evil possessing the vessel for the ultimate good,” says Peter Safran, producer for “The Nun II.” “I think nuns are supposed to be unabashedly good in the service of goodness, and the most evil thing is mocking that goodness by taking her form. I think that’s what it is that people really respond to.

“And let’s be honest, a lot of people are very scared of nuns in general, but I think from a supernatural thriller perspective, the idea of that evil embedded in what should be the epitome of good is just so sacrilegious and compelling.”

Directed by Michael Chaves, “The Nun II” finds Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) once again coming face-to-face with Valak, the demon nun, this time in France, where a priest has recently been murdered.
