LISTENING ROOM: Kris Lawrence - Spread The Love REVIEW

It has been a while since we he heard of a OPM  RNB album that will venture into a pop-driven music industry. But its about time for Kris Lawrence to launch his new album "Spread The Love" under GMA Records.

Despite waiting for 4 years, it's exciting  to finally hear him as he brings together quality and original songs that will start his reign as the new "Prince of RNB" given to him by his buddy and now "King of Pinoy RNB", Jay-R.

Now let's look into the tracks of the album:

Nightmare - a track, Kris mentioned that was meant to be used by Justin Bieber, is now his own and with Elmo Magalona joining him for the track proves he can be a  international artist.

Tell Me - The feel is very 90's that brings one into a nostalgia trip. This type of song is one of  Kris Lawrence's specialty.

Ikaw Pala- the Philippine OST of the Korean series "The Innocent Man", is deserving to be used for TV. I wish he would do more TV series soundtrack.

Sabihin Mo Naman - I could say is a fusion of a ballad with some electronic music which is new. It may something experimental but yeilded an interesting beat.

Di Na Matatangap- He said this was a "breakup" song during the rocky times of his relationship with Katrina. Since this was made with a lot of emotions, you can feel the pain with the lyrics.

Unbreakable - featuring Rachelle Ann Go, this dance song is my favorite in this album.

Addict - When RNB meets Big Band, it makes a new flavor. The sensuality of RNB with the jive of Big Band makes one dance while snapping their fingers.

Rider - featuring Q-York, this hip hop track has the Filipino taste which follows an American type of beat.

Make Me Whole - inspired from fatherhood, this ballad can actually be something spiritual with the concept of love as the common factor.

Try Again - Another great ballad for redemption, I think its a great soundtrack for a romantic movie though the title may be a little cliche

I'd Rather Be Alone - Teaming up with Jay Durias makes this mellow song both nostalgic and dramatic, if I feel emo I think I'll play this song for hours.

I have to give the album 3.8 out of 5.0 for the R&B factors and feel, but It may have some parts that would not be timely with today's music trend. Kris would do well in doing theme songs for television series, "Ikaw Na Nga" is potentially great.
