My 2 Mommies Brings In The "Momshie" in Mother's Day

Mothers have been a common sight in Pinoy movies, and they always have a featured film for mother's Day. This year, they made a interesting change with My 2 Mommies starring Paolo Ballesteros, Solen Heussaff, Joem Bascon and Maricel Soriano. The movie brings another gay role for Paolo in which one gave him an acting award.

This new film may be an alternative approach from the usual mother-children stories which we might have outgrown now. However, this new film is out to make a statement of LGBT parents, that motherhood is not exclusively for women but also parents who embraced motherhood in all its forms. Paolo here is Manu, openly gay and partnered, finds out he has a son from a friend who is now 7 years old.

It get complicated as it was not fully revealed about Manu's real orientation and balancing how to be a good parent to his son who has not seen him in a long time. Young and new actor Marcus Cabais plays as their son which struggles to know more about his biological father and asks a lot of question about him and his personal life.

Directing the film is Eric Quizon who has also worked with Maricel Soriano in the past and is happy to bring the diamond star back in movies. He also did not had a hard time with the cast as they showed skills in doing comedy. Eric also praise Paolo's comedic punchlines which he compare to his late father, the king of comedy, Dolphy.

Paolo shares in the film's BlogCon that his co-actors are fun to be with, like Marcus who was very active on set, Solenn brings great comedic chemistry, plus the honor of working with Maricel which he used to see on screen, now plays as his mother in the movie.

Marcus maybe young but has charm and wit which jives well with the cast. Direk Eric also shared that he even studied French to impress them in his audition which one of the reasons they chose him to play the part.

For those who want to feel happy with an array of funny antics and also feel maternal love, this movie comes perfect for Mother's Day. My 2 Mommies is coming out in cinemas May 9, produced by Regal Entertainment.
