“GINUGUNITA KITA” Arts All Set On Sept 26

In line with its 18th year anniversary celebration, The Maningning Miclat Art Foundation Inc. in cooperation with District Gallery - Artist Playground, and the Far Eastern University President’s Committee on Culture presents “GINUGUNITA KITA,” a performance art featuring Maningning Miclat’s poems and an all original music composed by Jesse Lucas.

“GINUGUNITA KITA” will be held on September 26 – Wednesday 6 p.m. at the historic, newly-opened FEU Auditorium located at Nicanor Reyes St., Sampaloc, Manila.

Maningning Miclat was a poet, fictionist and essayist in English, Filipino and Chinese as well as a painter in Western and Chinese genre. A Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate in UP Diliman, she was a fellow of the U.P. National Writer's Workshop, Silliman Writer's Workshop and Rio Alma Poetry Clinic. Her Chinese poems made her one of the top-rated women poets in Chinese in the world.

Every artist have dreams to pursue, but it is how one conquers those dreams that make a difference. Over the last couple of months, noted award-winning actor and classical / crossover artist AL GATMAITAN was quietly working on a dream project to further hone his craft in music and theater.

To further widen his horizons, Al Gatmaitan embarked on a major decision --- a bold move that he has taken very seriously in the forthcoming production of Linda Faigao-Hall’s “THE FEMALE HEART” under the direction of Banaue Miclat-Janssen for the UP Playwrights’ Theater

Al Gatmaitan maybe young but has achieved many feats which has given him a lot of opportunities here and overseas. On his pursuit for new heights in his career as a Tenor, he enrolled himself to the New York University Steinhardt School for Music and Performing Arts Professions. With his admission to the prestigious school for music he needs all the help he can get, thus a benefit concert was held last May 14, and 21, first at Opera Haus and LRI Design Plaza respectively. 

I went to the May 21st concert where special guests include Soprano Gabri Panilio , Ms. Tricia Amper, Mezzo Soprano Clarissa Ocampo , Flamengco Dancer Lisa Dino, OPM Hitmaker Aiza Seguerra, and world class Pianist and UST ean, Professor in Music and Statistics at the Conservatory of Music Raul Sunico, with Collaborative Pianist Karl Estudillo.

AL GATMAITAN, one of the country’s topnotch tenors will further advance his studies this coming June at the New York University Steinhardt School for Music and Performing Arts Professions. But before he takes a bite of the Big Apple, catch AL GATMAITAN: IN PURSUIT OF A DREAM – a special fund raising concert presented by The Philippine Opera Company and Grupo Reposo, in collaboration with LRI Design Plaza. With Karl Estudillo, collaborative pianist, directed by Will Fredo. Happening tonight 7:30 P.M. at OPERA HAUS (3657 Bautista Street, Brgy. Palanan, Makati.)

For tonight's concert, special guest artists include: TV, film and stage actress Ms. Ayen Munji-Laurel, Sopranos Karla Gutierrez, Gabri Panlilio, and Janine Santos; Tenor Nazer Salcedo, Baritone Lawrence Jatayna and Mezzo Soprano Clarissa Ocampo.
