MP Promotions Inks Deal With Astro Malaysia For Global Airing Of Pacquaio-Matthysse Fight

MP Promotions recently signed up with Astro, the Malaysia-based broadcasting group for the exclusive rights for the airing of the “Fight of Champions” match between eight-time world boxing champ Manny Pacquiao and Argentinian fighter Lucas Matthysse, scheduled for July 15 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The fight, which will also feature three other world title fights in the undercard, will be broadcast live in over 100 countries worldwide, including the United States, South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Asia Pacific region, Caribbean and Oceania.

Consistent national and regional amateur gold medalist Junrel Jimenez will make his Pinoy Pride debut under the Nietes-Nantapech world championship on April 29 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino for Pinoy Pride 40. 

ALA Promotions officially announced this after Jimenez, together with his manager Lorenzo “Chao” Sy, signed a 3-year promotional contract with the organization earlier today.

Fight to be aired live for Filipinos in 10 communities across the country 29 April 2015

Manila – As the nation prepares for the ‘Fight of the Century’ between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr., life insurance giant Pru Life UK is saluting every Filipino fighter by bringing the world title fight live to many who have never before had such an opportunity, particularly those who are still recovering from typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan). 

Pru Life UK is working with 10 communities in Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Batangas, Quezon, Albay, Aklan, and Northern Samar, as well as Bantayan Island in Cebu to bring live coverage of the match on May 3rd. The 4th Pacquiao-Marquez fight is, without a doubt, one of the biggest bouts of the year.  In a sport where everything is unpredictable, where one punch can change everything, no one is sure to know of who has the upper hand in the 4th, and probably the decisive fight between Manny Pacquiao and the Mexican dynamo Juan Manuel Marquez. 

Both men are considered among the greatest fighters in the history of boxing with Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao being the first eight-division world champion and the first to win the Lineal Championship in four different weight classes, making him a boxer of Muhammad Ali’s caliber.  Juan Manuel Marquez III, on the other hand, is the greatest Mexican boxers of all-time for many analysts. Blah Blah Blogs: What The #PacBradley?!

I don't usually blog about boxing, but when I do there is something really wrong. When Manny was winning fights left and right, there is the common greeting of congratulations and some analysis from a regular spectator. Well, indeed the fight was shocking not in the fight itself but the unbelievable decision made by the judges on the final scorecards. Again, I am no expert however I am a keen observer, and at the fight, it was clear on my end that the fight belong to Manny. I also impressed with Bradley keeping it up to the 12th round which is an achievement for players. But when the announcement was made in favor of Bradley, I felt there is really wrong.

To be fair, I do check on boxing analysts sites and post about the fight, and as far as I have checked, they all are in favor for Pacman. It's not that he is Pinoy that I am rooting for him, but because he is really talented and strong. For the spirit of the sport and fairness, I would like to know the basis of which they gave those scores. It should not be an issue of race, color, religious views, business, smooth talk or personal opinion, just sticking to the rules of boxing.

Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton, Ready To Defend WBO Title vs. Argentinean Foe

Hot off the heels of Johnriel Casimero’s unforgettable post-fight experience in Argentina,  reigning IBA and WBO women’s super bantamweight champion Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton defends her WBO belt against Yesica “La Leona” Marcos in the latter’s hometown in San Martin, Argentina on March 16.   

GMA Network airs the bout dubbed, "Laban ng Lahi presents Giyera sa Argentina: Ana Julaton vs. Yesica Marcos" on Sunday, March 18, at 11:00 AM.

Recalling the Casimero incident, the three-time world champion Julaton said that while she is saddened by the way Casimero was attacked by an angry Argentinean crowd, she is confident and determined to put on her strongest performance. 

“It was a surprising and terrible incident that unfortunately resulted in a dark reflection of Argentina. However, I need to treat this as an isolated case as it happened in an area different from where my fight against Yesica Marcos will be held. As a champion, I cannot let this incident distract me from my responsibility of keeping my title,” said Julaton.
