Top Cebuano amateur Junrel Jimenez signs with ALA Promotions

Consistent national and regional amateur gold medalist Junrel Jimenez will make his Pinoy Pride debut under the Nietes-Nantapech world championship on April 29 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino for Pinoy Pride 40.

ALA Promotions officially announced this after Jimenez, together with his manager Lorenzo “Chao” Sy, signed a 3-year promotional contract with the organization earlier today.

Before turning pro last 2015, Jimenez, who fought in national and regional amateur boxing championships, won gold medals twice for both Palarong Pambansa (2011-2012) and Philippine National Games in 2013 and 2014 (PNG), thrice for Batang Pinoy (2014-2016), and four times in CVIRAA (2010-2013) and ABAP (2012-2015) under the Cebu City team.

He currently holds a professional record of 6 wins and one loss, with 3 knockouts.

ALA Promotions began its successful international ventures in the Middle East September of 2014. It is the first and only Asian promotional outfit to stage shows in the Boxing Mecca of the world - the United States. ALA Promotions has brought numerous world-class shows all over the country and in the U.S for the past years, while showcasing Filipino talent to the international stage through its TV partners ABS-CBN and TFC (The Filipino Channel).

According to ALA Promotions President/CEO Michael Aldeguer, the organization would be implementing a more aggressive approach in signing new talents from all over the country this year as it moves towards bigger and more shows here and abroad. Jimenez looks to be this year’s first of the many. A contract with ALA Promotions would mean clearer path for a prospect like Jimenez, a chance to be featured in the promotions’ big shows internationally to provide him better opportunities to improve his boxing career.

In a brief interview after the contract signing, Sy disclosed both he and Jimenez are “very happy” to be part of ALA Promotions. “We’re very thankful to ALA Promotions for welcoming us. I personally believe ALA Promotions will be able to help Junrel achieve his dreams of being a successful boxer and eventually helping his family. Junrel and I will work hard to make this move successful for everyone”, said Sy.

For Jimenez, joining the promotional outfit is a big leap for his dreams as a boxer. He said he is excited because he knows ALA Promotions has a long list of successful fighters. “I want to be successful too and be given a chance to bigger fights in the future. Now I’m already fighting my first Pinoy Pride. I’m very thankful for this opportunity”, he added.
