“Migration” tells the story of a duck family that takes flight into the thrill of the unknown with a funny, feathered family vacation like no other. “Anyone But You” a winner at the global box office, opens in the Philippines January 17
Anyone But You, director Will Gluck’s new edgy romantic comedy starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, has charmed its way to the global box office.
The film, which opened in the United States just before Christmas, opened in several overseas markets over the weekend, including in the United Kingdom and Australia, where the film is primarily set. Anyone But You has earned a total of $33.5 million dollars, with a few markets still lined up for the film’s opening, including Spain, France, Italy and the Philippines, where it opens in cinemas January 17, 2024.
“I think audiences want to see movies that are relevant, authentic, and cinematic – but most of all, fun,” says Gluck, a fan favorite in the genre, thanks to previous works including Easy A and Friends With Benefits.

This Christmas season, sing along to the story of Mary and Joseph and the birth of Jesus with Journey to Bethlehem, a live-action Christmas musical adventure for the entire family that stars Fiona Palomo, Milo Manheim and Antonio Banderas as King Herod. The film, which weaves classic Christmas melodies with humor, faith, and new pop songs in a retelling of the greatest story ever told, will be shown exclusively in SM Cinemas starting December 6, just in time for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” conquers box office on its global opening weekend
Director Ridley Scott’s action epic Napoleon has reigned supreme at the box office, exceeding expectations with a victorious $78.8 million gross on its global opening weekend, including $46.3 million from international markets.
Starring Joaquin Phoenix as the famed French emperor, and Vanessa Kirby as his wife Josephine, the film debuted at No. 1 in France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy. Napoleon has yet to open in most parts of Asia, including the Philippines, where it will open November 29.

The heart of any slasher movie is the kills, and Eli Roth – the genre’s maestro – would make sure that Thanksgiving reflected his best work.
“Every kill had to meet our standards of scare and gore,” says the Thanksgiving director. “If the movie didn’t deliver on its promise, we’d be dead.” And Roth had the added pressure of having done it already when he made a fake Thanksgiving movie trailer upon the request of his friend Quentin Tarantino, as part of the latter’s Grindhouse double-feature with another fan-favorite director Robert Rodriguez. “I found myself not just trying to match what I did in the trailer, but trying to top it in every way possible,” continues Roth.

From trailer to movie: Director Eli Roth talks about making his slasher-horror movie “Thanksgiving”
For director Eli Roth, his journey for the Thanksgiving movie started in 2006, when his friends Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez were working on their double feature Grindhouse. To add to the double-feature experience, Tarantino asked his friends – including Roth – to create fake trailers that would appeal to the Grindhouse crowd. And Roth knew exactly what he wanted to do.

To prepare to shoot the movie, Scott assembled his team in a war room – which in this case was as literal a war room as can be when the subject is making a movie. With large-scale models of the sets for battles at Waterloo, Austerlitz, and Toulan, art department drawings, models, Scott – who is an excellent artist and has always storyboarded his own films – brought the entire team together to share his vision and direct his crafts team in the images he is looking to achieve.

It is a disaster thriller about the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. The film will follow the story that begins when the survivors gather at Hwang Gung Apartments, the only building left standing in an earthquake-ravaged Seoul.
Denzel Washington and director Antoine Fuqua team up again in “The Equalizer 3”
Washington says there are many reasons why he looks forward to reteaming with Fuqua: “His spiritual maturity, his collaboration, his humility, his eye,” says the actor. “There was never a question about his talent, his experience. Korea picks “Concrete Utopia” for international film race at the Oscars, film to make North American premiere at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival
The Korean Film Council (KOFIC) has unanimously chosen the disaster epic Concrete Utopia to represent South Korea in the selection for Best International Feature Film at the 2024 Academy Awards.
In a statement on their official website, KOFIC said that they tried to select “a film that is Korean, yet aims for a global standard, strikes a good balance between artistry and popularity, and appeals without resistance to the Academy Awards.” The judges unanimously selected Concrete Utopia “as it seems to be able to appeal to North America without being unfamiliar with the trend of K-culture and K-movie.”
