Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - Cold or Cool?

The universe of Ghostbusters continues to expand and now spans to more generations as it makes more movies like Ghostbusters Frozen Empire. And for us which had some recall with the original Ghostbuster movies and cartoon series, this film teases us with the comeback of some of the original cast of the OG movies.

That is what the current Ghostbusters universe is now trying to converge. This is where I also learned that this is now being produced by Ghost Corps, which is a subsidiary of Columbia Pictures to oversee the production and development of the GCU (Ghostbusters Cinematic Universe).

For this film, it continues the story of Ghostbusters: Afterlife with Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, and Celeste O'Connor now located in New York for their operations encounters a new and mystical form of entity which is encased in an ancient vessel which seems like a very old version of the Ghostbusters somewhere in South Asia.

Reasons to watch “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” according to Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire feels a lot bigger, says Mckenna Grace, who plays Phoebe Spengler in the movie.

“It’s in New York, it brings us back to where the Ghostbusters originated so that’s really special,” says Grace. “New villain, new storylines, new problems that at least Phoebe has never encountered. It’s bigger scale, more blockbuster, action, there’s a lot. It’s very fun.”

In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age. Besides Grace, the film also stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim and original Ghostbusters Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts.

Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon invite fans to watch “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” in theaters. Here's why!

It would be very cool to see Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire in a movie theater, says Paul Rudd, who plays Gary Grooberson in the film.

“Seeing any movie in a movie theater is the way to do it, you can’t beat it,” says Rudd. “There is so much that goes into sound and design and everything. To be able to see it on a massive screen and hear it, you know, you hear things in theaters that you don’t hear at home. It’s an immersive experience. So if you’re going to check it out, go for the best way of checking it out.”

“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” is “at times funny, at times scary, always fun,” says director Gil Kenan

Three years ago, the release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife became a passing of the torch as a new generation of Ghostbusters – and Ghostbusters filmmakers – took up the mantle.

For Jason Reitman, son of the late Ivan Reitman who directed the first (and second) Ghostbusters, stepping into the Ghostbusters franchise as the director of Afterlife meant truly embracing his role in the family business. And before his dad passed away, Jason was able to tell Ivan about his plans for Frozen Empire, his follow-up to Afterlife.

“We sat outside with my dad and we started telling him all our ideas for the next Ghostbusters movie,” Jason Reitman recalls. “We laid it all out for him, and it’s the last story that I ever got to tell my dad – the story of Frozen Empire, a new adventure for the ghostbusters back in Manhattan.”
