With the story set in the critical war years and the setting is a town in Nazi Germany makes it into a pile of conflicts, struggles, and fear but holds a place of hope and dreams.

Sophie Nélisse plays Liesel, a girl sent to live with her foster parents in a German town is longing for her family and is adjusting to her new family which is never the ideal parents.  Her curiosity led her interest in learning and reading books.

In today's time of electronic book and fast information, the value of book and education was given a whole new inspiration that young people must learn to appreciate. There is also some history along the way by being a part of the Nazi revolution.
