Globe has bagged Ookla® ’s Best 5G Video Experience Award[1] in the Philippines, proving that its customers are already reaping the fruits of the company’s massive network investment.

The Video Awards was launched by the network intelligence and connectivity insights global leader early this year based on local mobile networks' performance in the third and fourth quarters of 2021.

To compute the video score of the different mobile networks, Ookla weighed the sum of multiple video metrics.  It includes the proportion of tests that failed to start, time to load the first frame of video playback, quality of video loaded, the proportion of users who experienced at least one stall in video loading or playback, and the rebuffering ratio of users who experienced a stall.

Globe has been a steady supporter of the government's initiative to improve the country's state of connectivity.  The telco has led the industry in new site builds last year and strengthened its network with extensive 4G LTE and 5G upgrades. These sustained and vigorous efforts have resulted in improved internet speeds and higher Consistency Scores as confirmed by various independent analytics firms.

As internet speeds improve, consistency is key in achieving #FirstWorldNetwork

Globe’s nationwide tower builds have resulted in a ‘sustained and consistent’ network with better connectivity experience for its customers.

The telco's continuous investments to upgrade its network, coupled with its aggressive site roll outs are adding new capacity and increasing data bandwidth available to customers. With improving internet speeds, Globe is also looking at consistency of network services across all areas where its services are available.

Globe’s intensive builds yield positive results

Globe continues to scale up its network expansion as investments in its infrastructure are expected to increase further in 2021. The aggressive upgrades have already produced positive results for subscribers, with mobile and broadband internet speed and availability steadily improving across the country.

The company’s consistent service improvements each year, both in major cities and in underserved areas around the Philippines, have been validated by independent global analytics firms such as UK-based Opensignal and Ookla. Globe was in fact given the Global Rising Star Award for Most Improved Video Experience by Opensignal based on user data covering the first half of 2019 vs. the first half of 2020.
