Solo: A Star Wars Story - Han's History Finally Revealed!

Like the Avengers, A solo Solo movie (pun intended) has been long been awaited and 2018 was indeed the year of patience with the most favorite space smuggler/pilot finally reveals his origins. Solo: A Star Wars Story may be in between episode VIII and IX, yet it is a good filler while we await the next installment of the space opera.

Casting Han was probably the hardesr task for the creative team to do as it should pass the taste of fans as well to really portray the young Han Solo originally played by Harrison Ford. Initially there were rumors of having Scott Eastwood but it was given to Alden Ehrenreich (Hail!, Ceasar!) which many at first were very hesitant.

But along Alden, they also made interesting casting like Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Donald Glover (The Martian), Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games) and they even have Paul Bettany (Avengers Infinity War) too! They play Qi'ra, Lando Carlissian, Tobias Beckett and Dryden Vos respectively. I also find the new droid L3-37 as a fun droid voiced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

“SHELTER” Movie Exclusive At Starmall And Vista Mall Cinemas

Best known as Jarvis/Vision in the blockbuster Marvel movies “The Avengers,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and in “Captain America: Civil War,” Paul Bettany, who has also rendered an unforgettable performance in “A Beautiful Mind,” takes the director’s chair in his (directorial) debut in the movie “Shelter” which he also wrote, about two homeless people and their harrowing plight to survive.

“Shelter” stars Jennifer Connelly opposite Anthony Mackie (who has also appeared in “Avengers” movies as Sam Wilson aka Falcon).  In “Shelter” Connelly takes on the character of Hannah while Mackie stars as Tahir.  Both come from two different worlds. But when their lives intersect, they’re at the same place: homeless on the streets of New York.

REEL DEAL: Captain America Civil War

Another clash movie of the year is the awaited movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe of 2016, Captain America: Civil War puts all heroes into the big screen not fighting bad guys but each other. As ironic it may sound, it does seems inevitable that they would not always be on the same boat.

Known to be one of the biggest clashes in the Marvel universe, Civil War is really literal. There was sides chosen upon the presentation of an accord that leaves them with a choice of following the directive of many nations or free to act upon the need to help. But we all know it is a complicated world with all the politics, policies, and amplified with the possible threats that their abilities can inflict to humanity.

This defines the line of "Captain America" which like the US is always politically connected with the current threats of society like terrorism and espionage. As some would see it as another Avengers movie with the introduction of Spider-Man, Ant Man, and Black Panter, it never forgets that it is Cap's movie.

With many conspiracies, secrets, needs to be established, there would be a longer time of dialogues and word wars more than the actual fight scenes. Many would find it boring, but I think they are really needed to further understand what is going on.

Poignant Movie On Homelessness In America Exposed In Paul Bettany's "SHELTER"

Real life couple Paul Bettany and Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly collaborate in the actor’s directorial debut in “Shelter.”  Bettany, best known for his role in the global blockbuster “Avengers” movies, “Iron Man,” “Legion” and “The Da Vinci Code” takes the back seat and helms a movie with a very powerful message on homelessness set in New York.  Bettany’s wife Jennifer Connelly who starred with the late David Bowie in the classic and unforgettable “Labyrinth” and whose hit and acclaimed film credits include “A Beautiful Mind,” “Hulk,” “Blood Diamond,” “Noah” and “Little Children” gives a riveting performance in the movie as a homeless woman named Hannah, heroin addict who abandoned her son after she lost her husband during 9/11 mission.

Co-starring with Connelly is Anthony Mackie as Tahir as Nigerian immigrant whose recent release in jail led him to an encounter with Hannah.  Coming from two different worlds, and as they learn about each other’s past, they begin to realize that they need each other to survive.

REEL DEAL: Johnny Depp Stars In Action-Packed Con-Caper Comedy "MORTDECAI"

Johnny Depp ‘s chameleon-like talent to effectively transform himself in any given role is again punctuated in the laugh-out-loud movie “Mortdecai” along with a stellar cast that includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Paul Bettany, Olivia Munn and Jeff Goldblum.

Based on the charismatic anti-hero popular trilogy by Kyril Bonfiglioli - (“Don’t Point That Thing at Me,”  “Something Nasty in the Woodshed” and “After You with the Pistol”), Charlie Mortdecai is a professional bon vivant and occasional art dealer perpetually at the end of his financial rope.  In “Mortdecai,” Charlie charms, schemes and blunders his way in and out of hilariously compromising situations as he attempts to beat out an array of international evildoers on the trail of a priceless Goya masterpiece that could also be the key to claiming missing Nazi millions.
