Pilipinas Kontra Gutom helps lower hunger incidence in the country

More than a year after its launch in November 2020, Pilipinas Kontra Gutom (PKG) partners share  milestones towards the movement’s goal of less hungry Filipinos.

Pilipinas Kontra Gutom is a multi-sectoral movement of Task Force Zero Hunger with the public sector and 80 partner members from private corporations and non-government organizations working hand in hand to address the country’s concerns on involuntary hunger - food production and distribution, malnutrition, food surplus and immediate food needed during times of disasters.

Kain Tayo, Pilipinas! The private sector, in collaboration with non-government organizations (NGOs) and government partners, launches Kain Tayo Pilipinas, the flagship program of Pilipinas Kontra Gutom, a multi sectoral movement behind Task Force Zero Hunger which aims to eradicate hunger in the country. Present during the program (from left to right) Chief Executive Officer of Publicis Groupe Philippines Ken Lingan, Private Sector Lead of Pilipinas Kontra Gutom Margot Torres, Kain Tayo Pilipinas Lead Kristine Go, Task Force Zero Hunger Chairman Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, and National Program Head of Kusina ng Kalinga of Gawad Kalinga Mark Lawrence Cruz. National Nutrition Council Executive Director, Dr. Azucena Dayanghirang, also gave a speech through a pre-recorded video.

Government and private sector join forces to launch national anti-hunger initiative Pilipinas Kontra Gutom

“Lahat kasali, lahat kasalo”. On February 22, the Pilipinas Kontra Gutom movement shared plans on how the different members of the private sector and the government intend to collaborate to uplift 1 Million Filipinos from hunger by 2022, and eventually, to reach zero hunger in the country. Seen in the photo are the different leads from around 70 organizations, companies, and groups that have come together to beat hunger.

“Lahat kasali, lahat kasalo”. This is the rallying call of Pilipinas Kontra Gutom (PKG), a national, multi-sectoral anti-hunger movement that was formally launched on Monday by government and private sector partners that will work together on various programs with a common goal: one million fewer hungry Filipinos by 2022.
