Gloc-9 gives in to fans’ requests; holds show at Eastwood

Rapper Gloc-9 broke sales records when he launched his newest album Mga Kwento Ng Makata (MKNM) in three different malls. The success of the string of shows fanned out requests for him to do another show, and with the overwhelming support Gloc-9 and his album MKNM are enjoying, this gifted rapper is more than willing to oblige.

This August 17, 7 p.m.,  Gloc-9 will be having a special MKNM show at the Eastwood Central Plaza featuring Ebe Dancel, Denise Barbacena, Q-York, Mike Swift, Silent Sanctuary, among others.

Fans who will purchase the CD at the venue will have free limited edition MKNM lanyards and poster, on a first come, first served basis.

MUSIC LYF: The Wanted live in Manila!

I really not a fan of boybands of today, but my attention was caught with this new British boyband THE WANTED. Known for their hits "Glad You Came" and "Chasing the Sun" which was used in Ice Age 4 Continental Drift Soundtrack.

APPLE VEGA, 20, from Dipolog City. She is a registered midwife and the Protege of Phillip Salvador (Mindanao). Here is an interview about this Protege from Mindanao. 

Tumakas ka daw sa alcoholic father mo para lang maka-audition sa Protégé?

 “Yes po.” 

Bakit, ayaw ba niyang mag-artista ka?

“Yung papa ko po kasi laging umiinom at hindi naman po niya talaga alam kung anu-ano ang pinaggagawa namin kaya nung nag-audition po ako, hindi ko na po ipinaalam sa kanya.  Kasi kung ipinagpaalam ko po sa kanya, bale wala lang din naman po sa kanya kaya ayun po, hindi ko na po siya sinabihan.”

Sinong kasama mo nung audition?

“Ako lang po.  Nag-audition po ako sa SM Cebu.  Mag-isa akong nagtravel (by ship) sa Cebu at wala po akong kakilala doon sa Cebu*.  Nag-stay lang po ako sa medyo murang apartelle kasi wala po akong pambayad sa hotel.”

*Dipolog (Mindanao) is a 4-5 hours slow-boat ride to Cebu (Visayas)

Protégé Profiles: Ruru Madrid

Ruru Madrid, at 14, is one of the youngest among the Top 20 Proteges. Although he and his family are now living in Marikina City, Ruru is representing his home province of Zamboanga City in Mindanao. He is currently in 2nd Year High School, Protégé of Phillip Salvador (Mindanao)

How did you know about Protégé?

“May mga nagsabi po kasi sa akin na may auditions nga daw po para sa Protégé. Sabi po nila subukan ko raw po dahil baka malaki ang chance ko na makapasok. Nasa school po ako nung ginawa ang audition tapos nagpaalam po ako na mag-o-audition.”

Why do you want to be a star?

“Mula nung bata pa po ako, kapag nakakapanood po ako ng drama scenes at may iyakan, naiisip ko po ‘siguro kaya ko itong gawin.’ Tapos maya-maya po napapatulo ko na po yung luha ko, tapos sasabihin ng nanay ko, ‘O, anong nangyari sa’yo?’ Tapos ganun po, kaya ko pong kontrolin ang luha ko.

REEL DEAL: Sadako The Ring 3 REVIEW

The curse continues as one of the most scariest horror of all time continues with its 3rd Japanese sequel in SADAKO THE RING 3 ( 貞子3D in Japan). If you would remember that long-haired pale faced lady that crawls out of the well and out of the TV screen is truly scary. That movie started the Asian horror trend that led to the introduction of other great Asian horror flicks.

And today, Sadako makes her Resurrection in this movie and to make things more interesting it is has this 3D effects (although it would not be shown in 3D here). This also means Sadako gets an upgrade in the modern age by appearing not only in TV, but now in monitors, cellphones and billboards.  

Being a fan of Japanese movies, I find the movie to have a similar feel like Death Note and Battle Royale. Though some parts are not that eerie, it does show you the logic on why Sadako kills. Also you will also feel the chill when you will encounter a common message on your computer.
