The campaign ‘Proactive Action’, produced by National Geographic Creative Works for Xiaomi, documents and raises awareness of causes that are close to the hearts of the storytellers, in an effort to create interest and preserve their existence. The stories are told through the eyes of a celebrated photographer from each country reflecting their local perspective - Gab Mejia from the Philippines, Annice Lyn from Malaysia, Sirachai “Shin” Arunrugstichai from Thailand, and Linh Pham from Vietnam.

KM Leong, General Manager for Southeast Asia of Xiaomi International shares, “We are excited to be collaborating with National Geographic Creative Works on this campaign as we celebrate the people, lives and cultures in Southeast Asia. Dubbed as the premium flagship of Xiaomi, Xiaomi 12 Pro can beautifully capture the visual stories of each explorer that will be a part of this campaign with its pro-grade triple 50MP camera array, complemented with Xiaomi’s advanced AI algorithm. We look forward to seeing how the featured National Geographic Photographers will master every scene.”

GCash weaves itself into Pinoy vocabulary and lifestyle

“I-GCash mo na ‘yan!”

Two years ago, GCash was hardly known by Filipino consumers.  Now, the e-wallet platform has become so embedded in people’s everyday lives it has become a verb, a payment category, even a word to describe the letter G.

GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon shared this fun fact at the 2022 Rotary District Conference where she talked about the big role GCash plays in the rise of the digital economy. Sazon was joined by the CEOs of BPI, Angkas, and Transportify.

“It has become a verb. People say, ‘i-GCash mo ‘yan.’  I heard pa nga one time, ‘Ano ba ang GCash mo?  Paymaya…?’.  It’s now a category name.  Part na rin ng alphabet.  ‘Yung isang bata sabi G is for GCash,” she quipped.

GCash’s popularity soared during the pandemic despite being around since 2004, but Sazon believes that the mobile wallet is here to stay due to increased digitalization. Consumers have also gotten used to the convenience it offers.
