DepEd begins rapid damage assessments in Glenda-affected areas

The Department of Education reported that there were 115 school divisions in 12 Regions affected by Typhoon Glenda. Over 50 school divisions have resumed classes and operations as of today, July 17.

To date, a total of 187 schools have been used as temporary evacuation centers since the preparations for the typhoon began.

Susan Ekins, Nikolas Korda, David Yates, Mike Richardson and Bruce Berman are serving as executive producers.

From New Line Cinema, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, comes the tornado disaster film “Into the Storm,” an adrenaline-fueled thriller that will plunge audiences in the eye of the storm as an unprecedented series of powerful tornadoes converge on the small town of Silverton, seen through the eyes and lenses of the people living through it.

Steven Quale (“Final Destination 5”) directs the film, which is produced by Todd Garner (“Zookeeper,” “Knight and Day”). As her abilities keep evolving, Lucy (Scarlett Johansson) reaches out to Professor Samuel Norman, an expert on the human brain, to try to understand what is happening to her. Soon after she is supercharged, she finds herself able to do anything from learning Chinese in an hour to beginning to control space and time.

The production was fortunate enough to have Academy Award® winner Morgan Freeman join the team as the world-renowned neurologist whose lifelong focus is how we access the information stored in our brain.

REEL DEAL: First Look Photos Reveal “EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS”

Filmed in 3D, Ridley Scott’s “Exodus: Gods and Kings” tells the story of Moses, abandoned by a desperate mother as a baby after the Egyptian rulers order the murder of all boys born to slaves, he is found in the bulrushes by the Pharaoh’s daughter and raised in the royal household, where he grows up alongside Ramses, the future monarch.

As a man, Moses has a vision and turns his back on his privileged life and leads his people, the Israelites, from enslavement. Scott’s film will feature ground-breaking special effects, including the plagues visited upon Egypt and the parting of the Red Sea. 

MUSIC LYF: A new ‘Your Year’ for Malay; launch this July 2

The road to the release of alternative band Malay’s debut CD is unlike any local releases. Years ago, the band digitally released “Your Year.” Due to insistent public demand, the band decided to re-record all the songs from the digital album and include two new tracks for the release of the 2014 version of “Your Year,” which will be launched this July 25 at Last Home, Ortigas Home Depot.

The album launch features performances from Malay and other bands. Entrance to the launch is the band’s CD.
