REEL DEAL: The BFG

Another children's book by Roald Dahl is made into film just in time for his 100th Birthday this September.  The BFG, is now made into film like its "brothers" James and the Giant Peach, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The big adventure is set to open this August 10.

Though I not familiar with the book itself, Dahl's work is something I love for the diverse fantasies he incorporates in his stories and still linking it to the mortal world with a unique way to turning grim realities to a little lighter one. The BFG maybe takes a bigger bite of the real world with the involvement of the orphan girl into the land of the giants.

Though one might have to strangely adapt to the way giants talk, it would eventually sink in to viewers what they are trying to say. The movie is filled with colorful visuals that balances the dark and bland tones of the man-eating giants. Though there is a lot of explaining to do to kids who would be seeing this as it would make them question the real world.

The new Brother mono laser series that means business

Holiday Chaos in "Office Christmas Party" Teaser Trailer‏

Paramount Pictures has just released the teaser trailer of its upcoming holiday comedy “Office Christmas Party,” in Philippine cinemas December 7th.

In “Office Christmas Party,” when the CEO (Jennifer Aniston) tries to close her hard-partying brother’s branch, he (T.J. Miller) and his Chief Technical Officer (Jason Bateman) must rally their co-workers and host an epic office Christmas party in an effort to impress a potential client and close a sale that will save their jobs.

Directed by Josh Gordon & Will Speck, the comedy stars Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, T.J. Miller, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Courtney B. Vance, Vanessa Bayer and Jamie Chung.

Cinemalaya Film Festical's 12th Year At Ayala Malls Cinemas

The country’s annual Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival celebrates its 12th year with a resonant theme “Break the Surface” featuring an impressive roster of films for full length and short feature categories that are currently showing at Ayala Malls Cinemas.

For the first time, Ayala Malls Cinemas brings the festival outside Metro Manila at Ayala Center Cebu that will run on August 9 -14.  Marking its first opening at Ayala Center Cebu, Cinemalaya will have its opening night on August 9 featuring “Dagsin” and “Lando at Bugoy.”

Now on its sixth year partnership with Cinemalaya Foundation, Ayala Malls Cinemas has again championed the works of the country’s talented filmmakers showcasing the festival’s entries in seven of their branches (runs from August 6 – 14 in Metro Manila and August 9-14 in Cebu) – Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 1, Fairview Terraces, U.P. The list of nominees for the 29th Awit Awards has been revealed. The Awit Awards is a prestigious award-giving body, spearheaded by PARI (The Philippine Association of the Record Industry, Inc.), that gives recognition to Filipino performing artists and people behind the making of Filipino recorded music.
