REEL DEAL: The Bourne Legacy REVIEW

The long wait of Filipinos (especially action fans) is over, after many inconveniences with traffic with the supervision of the MMDA, The Bourne Legacy will be shown in theaters this August 8. A spin off from the very successful and acclaimed Bourne Series (Identity, Supremacy, Ultimatum), the movie now tells the story of another agent similar to Jason Bourne, Aaron Cross.

The movie goes on a world tour to many countries, not just the Philippines. From the cold mountains of Canada, to many Asian cities  showing the string theory of events that eventually lead to the crossroads of the meltdown of the program and its agents. Rachel Weisz, plays the beautiful doctor who accompanies  Aaron to travel to the other side of the world to Manila.

Of course, Pinoys who were part of this movie take pride of making this happen. And the view of Manila was really cool, for a true blue Manilan like me. The chase scene in the city was something really surreal to think that I also walked at those places. Also its my first time to see a Jeepney at a chase with passengers and falling moments. It also makes me think that Manila can be a place for parkour... perhaps? And El Nido is just... wow!

The Bourne Legacy would not really require you to watch the Trilogy first as it has its own story, but definitely will make you appreciate the movie more. I also liked that most of the Filipino actors in the movie which are indie and theater actors, a great choice. Also kudos to the  Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) with filming of the movie in Metro Manila, though I hope there would devise techniques to prevent traffic in the event of movie filming in the metro soon.

The Bourne Legacy is distributed by United International Pictures and Solar Entertainment Corporation. Showing in Theaters August 8.

Deliberation time kids!

Show summary in 3 lines: Not Hawkeye Movie

Technical Effects: 4 out of 5 stars (we missed hand to hand combat which this movie provided)

Plot: 4 out of 5 stars ( A spin off of the Bourne Trilogy but would actually gives a missing puzzle piece to the series)
Acting and Actors: 4 out of 5 stars  (Jeremy Renner makes sure that he is not Hawkeye here)

DVD worthiness: 4 out of 5 stars ( and two tickets to El Nido Palawan Please!)
Music and Soundtracks:  3 out for 5 stars (It also plays the Bourne theme song which is great)
3D Worthiness: No. scenes to fast may hurt my eyes.
Pros: Plot, Actors, Fight Scenes, Canada, Manila and El Nido Palawan
Cons: Some scenes would be to intellectual in nature (terminologies, conspiracy theories) as it is about medical terms, security issues, science and espionage
Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (A true blue action movie just like the bourne series, and as a Filipino want to make you want to watch it again)
