REEL DEAL: Dunkirk REVIEW

War films are probably one of the most difficult to produce as they are heavily laden with action, explosions, and critical historical facts. Many would use them as propaganda against enemies. Dunkirk stands out among this genre as it was given focus on the individual faces of war.

The film will actually inflict a small trauma to us to let us experience what is like to be in the forefront, and it was really scary. Death and survival are the only options. Nolan proved that he can make a impressionistic film about armed conflicts.

Though we have seen many war movies, the journey of the characters here paints real situations,no fancy lines, just expressions of horror, grief, thrill, etc. Though the story of war is similar to what our grandparents had experienced, the human connection is what brings the viewers and the characters in one boat.

King Arthur Legend of the Sword stars Charlie Hunnam, Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law, Eric Bana. Showing in cinemas  on May 17th.

Deliberation time kids!

Show summary in 3 lines: World War Thrills!

Technical Effects: 5 out of 5 stars (A new angle on the Nolan approach which is really impresive)

Plot: 3 out of 5 stars (Kinda predictable yet has some surprises)

Acting and Actors: 3 out of 5 stars (Harry Styles is actually one of the surprises here)

Pros:  War ambiance, explosions, plane shots

Cons: unnecessary long scenes, explosions

Music and Soundtracks:  4 out for 5 stars (another great Hans Zimmer work, effective with the fire and explosions, but it can also be traumatic)

Overall: Rating 4.6 out of 5 stars (A possible Oscar contender, a war film for Nolan, to feel the war at its core is the drive for us to watch this)
