Max's Out Of This World's Commercial Wins Big At YouTube Ads Awards

Brands, marketing and advertising agencies, and industry leaders gathered for the second YouTube Ads Awards which seeks to recognize outstanding campaigns that demonstrate the power of innovative and creative storytelling on YouTube.

Max’s Philippines’ “Every Kind of Family, Everyday to the Max” took home the greatest distinction of the night as it was named as “Ad of the Year”. The video also won top category or Crystal award for Food and Beverage, as well as two Silver awards for Retail and Restaurants, and Corporate Image and Public Sector.

Utilizing unique symbolisms and a powerful soundtrack, the two-minute and 16-second digital film effectively conveys a heartfelt message about accepting differences and highlights the brand’s promise of being a place where every kind of family is celebrated, every day to the max.

“The award-winning video by Max's Philippines sets a high standard for creativity, bravery, and brand storytelling on YouTube. From the work we’ve reviewed, it is the best example of digital work that can stand out not just in the local market but also on the global stage,” said Chief Creative Officer of McCann Worldgroup Joe Dy.

“Over the years, we’ve seen a shift in the way advertisers tell brand stories and effectively engage audiences. In the Philippines today, it is exciting to see creativity and imagination at play in the industry, with more and more practitioners embracing unique storytelling and new executions as seen in tonight’s roster of awardees,” shared Gabby Roxas, Head of Marketing of Google Philippines.

Earlier this year, YouTube Ads Awards announced its return for a bigger awards program that would honor the best-performing brands that cut through the clutter with its compelling stories and fresh advertising executions. Entries were evaluated by a select panel of judges based on their content, creativity, and effectiveness.

The awards panel sifted through over 360 entries across 17 categories from which 42 finalists were then recognized as Crystal, Silver (Second Prize), and Bronze (Third Prize) awardees. From all the winners, the jury awards the Ad of the Year -- the video which demonstrates the most creative and world-class brand storytelling.

Max’s Philippines received another Crystal for its New Year is for Resolutions video, while  Bench clinched two Crystals for How long can you keep a secret?, a touching video on love and acceptance. BDO’s Kwentong Kabayan series, Levi’s Holiday, Robitussin’s Non-stop ubo ngayong pasko?, and Closeup’s #FreeToLove video series each took home one Crystal award.

Apart from these, YouTube Ads Awards conferred eight Silver awards and 26 Bronze awards. Other big winners during the night were McDonald’s Philippines and Globe with three distinctions; and Philippine Airlines, San Miguel, and Vicks, with two awards each.

This year’s esteemed panel of judges includes: McCann Worldgroup Chief Creative Officer Joe Dy; Mullenlowe Philippines President Leigh Reyes; McDonald’s Philippines Marketing Director Kring Lao; Security Bank Digital Head Gerry Dy; P&G Philippines Chief Marketing Officer Lester Estrada; actress and content creator Judy Ann Santos; television host and content creator Alex Gonzaga; film director Antoinette Jadaone; The Huddle Room Media Inc. Managing Partner Eugene Manalo; film director and head of Globe Studios Quark Henares; and director and cinematographer Lyle Sacris.
