Grab introduces PayLater, a new feature that lets you shop, dine, ride and pay later in one monthly bill

New Grab feature allows users to pay at a later date at zero interest

Ever have those days when you just need food delivered to you while working from home, but your cash is low? Or perhaps you need to stock up on groceries but you don’t have enough cash on hand? We can all relate to this. Grab, the leading superapp in Southeast Asia, is rolling out its new feature that allows users to consolidate their transactions and have more flexibility with their spending. With PayLater, consumers can now use GrabCar, GrabFood, GrabMart and GrabExpress at any time, and pay for these services a whole month later, all in one monthly bill.

“This new feature allows our users to enjoy Grab’s suite of services such as delivery of food or other essential items and pay for them a whole month later. It allows them to better plan their finances and manage their cash flow, as they can review all their transactions in one monthly bill with zero interest. One of the best things about this service is that consumers will also earn points for every transaction which they can collect and exchange for great rewards. It’s been a challenging year for many Filipinos, and we hope that this new Grab service brings more convenience to many people,” said Erwin Yamsuan, Head of Grab Financial Services in the Philippines.

HOW PAYLATER WORKS

Previously rolled out in neighboring countries, PayLater is being introduced in the Philippines to give users more payment options.  Whether it’s petsa de peligro, or there’s just no ATM machines in sight, customers can now opt to do the things they love like having food and gift deliveries via GrabFood and GrabExpress, grocery shopping through GrabMart, or quick trips to the mall via GrabCar.

PayLater is available to top tier and long-time Grab users who regularly use the app’s features and those with significant transactions across the app’s different services. If a consumer qualifies for the feature, it will appear as a payment method for Grab transactions, along with other payment methods such as cash, GrabPay, and enrolled credit cards. The consumer has to click and subscribe to activate the PayLater feature.

Consumers will then be given a pre-approved limit for a monthly PayLater spend. This limit will be refreshed upon payment of the PayLater balance.

MANAGING YOUR PAYLATER ACCOUNT

For repayment of purchases, the PayLater bill will be generated on the 1st or 15th of the month with seven days to settle, depending on the activation day. This will give consumers time to manage and plan their finances responsibly.

With 0% interest, users will only have to pay a processing fee of 3.99% for each consolidated bill. PayLater users can avoid any bill shock by tracking their transactions. Just go to the PayLater section and click the ‘view details’ button to see their current spending total, available balance and transaction history. The entire PayLater system is transparent, so people can see that there are no hidden fees. To avoid *late fees, users can enable their notification to receive regular payment reminders before their due date.

REWARDING TRANSACTIONS

Aside from the convenience it offers to users, PayLater also offers a rewarding bonus to those who avail of the service. Grab users will earn reward points for any transaction they charge to their PayLater accounts.

Grab PayLater offers a lot of possibilities to Filipinos. Whether it’s simply being able to manage their spending, or by earning amazing rewards, the new feature is a welcome service to everyone.

*An additional late fee of 3.99% will also be charged if the bill is not paid on time.
